In 1996, two years after my career as a guitarist ended, I got a job working as a PC repair tech at a Computer Renaissance store. My boss asked all the employees to give him ideas for a TV advertisement. So I wrote a little script for him.
A computer geek (or nerd, if you prefer) wearing a white shirt, black tie and a pair of broken horn rimmed glasses with white medical tape holding them together is sitting at a computer, intently doing something. A Narrator asks him "Do you have the latest computer?", and he says yes. The Narrator asks him "Do you have the latest version of Windows?", and he says yes. "So what do you do with it?" the Narrator asks.
"Play Solitaire..."

I love playing Euro Truck Simulator 2. I don't really care about the trucking company you make. I just like the driving model of the game. It allows me to drive long distances at high speeds, which I think is fun.
On the games support forum a lot of people tell me things like "It's a simulator. You should obey the speed limit." People said "This is not a racing game." I said "You play the game you bought your way. I'll play mine my way." Another idiotic comment that I got a lot, was "You should dim your headlights for oncoming traffic." I just said "I do, when the oncoming traffic is human."
I'm of the opinion that as simulators go this one is rather weak. It has too many "arcadish" things about it, that make it feel like it was made for kids. But with some mods, I got rid of all that childish stuff. However, playing this game, which is based on the actual European highway system, can be educational. I've been playing for years and I bet I could find my way around Europe without a map. I would love to do a bike trip there...

Today I was in Game Tweak Mode. It's one of those days where I would rather play with the game than play the game.
I tested an ETS2 Daytime 24/7 mod, but it didn't work. Sunsets and sunrises are longer, but it still gets dark. Since I want to eliminate the time leading up to sunset and sunrise, all this mod did was make them longer. And that defeats the purpose, so I removed it.
I tested an ETS2 Gate Speed mod, which worked. Now Company Yard Gates open faster.
I added an ETS2 Police mod, that makes police cars faster. Some just cruise, other go faster with beacons on.
I'm working on a new trailer paint job.
