What's your Weather like today

Don I became concerned about you and family after reading about the bad weather there. Could not remember if you were in its path or not.Seems like your okay m that is good:)
Thanks @Hedi M for your concern. We are not badly affected here as we are just getting rain. Temps in the 30s F. and raining. Our previous Alaska home out west was suffering severe flooding and the villages directly on the coast were devastated. The Coast Guard and National Guard are doing what they can to rescue people and, as far as I know, there are only two people not accounted for. The seacoast in Western Alaska is very flat, so when they get a 10 to 15 foot increase at high tide, the water goes well inland. The storm was the extratropical remnants of Typhoon Halong and it hit the west coast with the force of a category 2 hurricane and carried a lot of water with it in addition to the storm surge. My wife has been in contact with some of our friends out there and I don't believe any of them were made homeless as with hurricanes, there was plenty of warning about the approach of this storm.

In the 20s F. here at the moment, and I expect it will get much colder tonight. It is time to pull the battery out of the riding mower and plug in the tractor and truck. I intended to cut firewood today that has been down for some time, but my wife had other ideas. We ended up taking the Sawzall to an old love seat that was left behind by our youngest son. He got it in with the help of 4 friends, but we, being just two old folks, haven't been able to get it out. We cut it into pieces, loaded into the tractor then into the truck and hauled it to the transfer station. That led to replacing the baseboards in the room in which the love seat previously dwelt which took most of the day as I cut the pieces one at a time in my workshop and carried them in. I don't have a cordless nail gun, so I had to bring the compressor in and affix the pieces in places using a pneumatic tacker/stapler. I have been putting that job off for a while, so now it is almost done.

Very Windy!! Today, wind gusts are 30 plus MPH. A cold front has moved in through the night with a thunderstorm, and it has brought Autumn weather with it. The high's are going to be in the upper 50's today and upper 30's for the low. That seems the pattern we are moving into now. Looks like the fireplace will get turned on tonight.

A couple of days ago, I had a meteorite fireball caught on one of our outdoor cameras. I thought it was some kind of explosion at first. It was very cool to see! ☄️ It seems people from Tennesse and Kentucky had also reported seeing them.

We got a lot of rain overnight, with high winds at times. It "feels like" we must have gotten 3 inches or more, but reports say only 1 inch. In any case, the ground seems to have soaked it up well, I have no standing water.

Sunny tough still chilly. Got a lot of leaves blown, raked, mulched down to reduce bulk, and bagged. Dodging rain lately to make this happen so this morning was a good opportunity. Lots of leaves processed, too bad that since I blew them into piles the other day there is already a fresh "crop" to deal with.

And now we have a weather alert about high winds and hail coming this afternoon/evening. Peeping out the window I see the blue sky already closing up to clouded. I probably won't bother trying to blow more into piles if the wind is going to scatter it all before I can get it battened down under tarps and weights.

It's a pleasant 75°, no wind, the closest storm is nearly 2,000 miles away, and by Mocha Time (typically 10:00 PM) it will be in the lower 60° range... Fall has fallen here, and we have a few trees here and there that are in Fall Colors mode.

Beats the stuffin' out of the heat in peak summer. 🥵

Drizzly day. 47F and not likely to get much higher.

Got some wild wind for a bit yesterday, but none of the hail predicted or anything like heavy rain. They did have some hail in the area though.

Too damp for leaf duty out there today. Glad I got as much done as I had when the Sun was shining.

Right now, it is chilly but calm. We have a storm heading in, though, so I am expecting that to change very soon.

Our first snow flurries of the season today. When we lived in Georgia, it would have been a "snow storm" but here, it was hardly noticeable. No accumulation yet. We'll see what tonight brings. Temps in the 20s F.

Chilly and increasingly cloudy with rain spreading south.

Today:

A rather chilly but bright start to the day, before cloud spills in from the northwest. Becoming widely overcast with spells of persistent rain spreading southwards through the afternoon. Some heavy downpours across the mountains, and remaining breezy. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Remaining breezy tonight with further scattered showers in places, but plenty of dry spells too. Feeling chilly where skies clear, with a touch of frost in rural spots. Minimum temperature 2 °C.
