Back in 1980s we played in Las Vegas a lot. We didn't mind it because we rarely left the club. We had rooms in the hotel, we ate our meals in the 49¢ buffets, and we played 3 hour and a half shows a day in the Cabaret. We preferred Stateline, on the shores of beautiful Lake Tahoe or Reno... It was the same deal, but in the Sierra Nevada Mountains instead of the Mojave Desert. It will be 98 here in Henderson, Nevada.
I hear Las Vegas is not how we remember and it was only 30 years or so ago we were there. Free drinks, cheap food and entertainment...I always wanted to see the Venetian, Star Trek and a few other casinos from say 20 years ago but not sure I will ever go back as things are.Back in 1980s we played in Las Vegas a lot. I would have to agree with you there. The last time we played in Las Vegas was in 1988 at Del Webb's Mint and the last time I was there was in 1998. I was talking to one of the club managers at Binion's Horseshoe, and he told me that they had bought the Mint in 1988 and added it to the Horseshoe. We were likely one of the last bands to play in the Mint Cabaret. Some of the other clubs we played at in the 1980s were also gone.I hear Las Vegas is not how we remember and it was only 30 years or so ago we were there.
23 F. this morning, but it is sunny and the temps are rising. We are now into our long days, and there is little night except around 3 AM. There was snow the last two days above 1500 ft. elevation.
