What's your Weather like today

Went out and dug a path and "socket" in the snowbank to put the trash out for tomorrow's pickup. When the truck comes to dump it I don't need the robot arm to drop it and have it topple over into the road. 😜

Glad I went out earlier to look back at might solar powered decoration lights. Between the cold temperatures and the limited "daylight" (we're in permacloud season pretty much now) by 9 PM all of the lights have gone dark.

Funny how quickly I've adapted to the cold. With no wind 20F feels like nothing now. I hope that's a good thing!

We're supposed to get a little snow overnight, but so far all I have is a thin powder on the car windshield. At least I'd gotten around to siliconing the driver's door seal. That helps avoid potential frozen-door syndrome. The car is clear aside from this dusting of powder, just in case. I don't anticipate going out, but preparation is always wise. At least I have a new car battery this year. Six years for the factory battery wasn't really a bad run. 🚘

Sun came out! But at 2PM only 20F out there. Expecting a low of 8F tonight and sometime soon additional snow.

Tried to get a good picture of my Christmas lighting, which is modest, but long exposure and cold hands.... pretty shaky images. :ROFLMAO:

After suffering through 37 days of at least 100°F, including the summer high of 108°F, we have had almost 3 very pleasant weeks of 50°F days and low 40°F nights (it's 42°F now) in late November and early December. We have also had a banner year for rainfall, with 12.36", which the third wettest year on record, and it's only the 6th of December and the California rainy season is just starting.

Thank you!
Some of us up here get all whiney about the cold about now. But I am ever thankful that I don't live in a 'warm' climate.

Very windy at the moment. Winds predicted to be 50 mph or more. A number of people nearby have lost power, but we are oaky so far. Temperature is 12 F. and dropping. It is a dangerous time to be out and about without proper clothing. I suspect we will be well below zero F. as the weekend progresses and there is no break in the cold for the next week or ten days. The weather guy said to make sure your heating system and back-up heating system are in good order, and that all the vehicles--car, truck, snow machine, and airplane are protected and have proper heating.

I watch Ryan Hall, Y'all on youtube for weather sometimes. He has been predicting polar vortecies lately. I don't feel they are actually polar if the temps don't get to 20 below or better. I have been in a few winters here like that. I do, however prefer my temps stay above 10 above most of the time. Even zeroF is not too bad if there is no wind.

Temps in the 20s F. are delightful in winter here, especially if the wind isn't blowing. As I have said before, -30 F. is the dividing line for me, as I find it begins to hurt to breathe at that ambient temperature unless you shield your face in some way. Wind and humidity affect how the weather feels, like the "miserable cold" I mentioned before.

+12 F. and 50 mph wind. Word is that Wasilla Walmart lost part of its roof to the wind, so several other businesses are closed because of fear what happened to Walmart will happen to them. We have a tree down on a line near where our driveway connects to the road, but when we tried to report it, the utility hung up after we were on hold for 20 minutes. I sent them an email. The tree didn't take the lne down or cause an out that we know about, but I am afraid to touch the tree while the line is hot. No other damage here that I have detected other than an orchard fence party down, so if the moose find it it will not be good. I assume the moose are bedded down in the wind. My son lost a section of wooden fence. The wind broke a 4x4 off at soil level and the ground is frozen several feet down, so permanent repair will have to wait for thaw. He will make temporary repair once the wind dies down a bit. The weather is supposed to get colder yet and the wind is predicted to peak around 70 mph. I think I feel like I am in Saskatchewan or North Dakota. We don't normally get this much wind at our location as we are sheltered by mountains and trees, but this wind is coming straight from the north, and that is the direction of the water. My son who lives closer to Anchorage has almost no wind at all.

Tree across the driveway that was not there earlier. Wife reported it when she tried to leave for church. Me and the trusty tractor to the rescue. I pushed it off the drive and checked the road as far as I could see. No further down trees visible except the one on the power line that is not obstructing the road. Chainsaw work will be done when it is warmer and light.

I follow Ryan Hall on X, and he is saying we are in for the arctic blast down here in the South as well. My radar is showing that by next weekend we will be down to 19, and it may be even colder by the time we actually get the cold here.

Clearing after snowfall. I've gotton most of 4 inches of new snow cleared off, now the sun is actually coming out. That probably means a further drop from 25F but perhaps it'll actually warm first.

I'll have to get out there again, and probably clear some of the road out front to prevent snowplows from creating a heavy mess when they pass through.

Our temp here is low 70s, but we too woke up without power. It is back on last couple hours.
And we got some much-needed rain and more in the forecast tomorrow.

They are saying that by next weekend, we will be down into the teens, at least overnight for maybe a week, and days below freezing, but no snow expected at this point in time.
It looks like the cold zone is going way down into Florida !
People will be using a lot of electricity and gas, trying to keep warm, plus all of the holiday lights everywhere by next week; so we might have rolling blackouts.
Bobby is getting the small propane tanks filled up in case of emergency, but our gas wall heater can run without electricity, just with no fan.
