What are you doing right now?

It seems a little warmer today, so I am hoping to go outside and work in the yard this early afternoon. Right now, I am having my morning coffee and doing the laundry.

Just wrote a note to my state representative suggesting he author a bill requiring the provision of the cash charges for all hospital services. I know hospitals and insurance companies will fight it, but...

Got a letter today saying it was time, so I filed for Social Security benefits. Delaying until I turn 70 early next year. I did the math, even with the benefits reduction we'll see in 2033 or so I came out ahead by waiting. Of course all of it involves betting against the Grim Reaper.

Making a decision about a 2nd vehicle.
Jake has been rebuilding the 1987 pickup, now it needs pistons ,so not sure he wants to rebuild engine.
I'm sure I don't want him to. If the van breaks down we are stuck here.
Uh oh. I sent my 1996 truck to have the gas pumped out. It was from Trump's 1st term and this was as soon as I could have someone take out the battery to bring it down to get it charged. (big truck, big battery, no electricity in the pole building.) The guy said bring the truck over last Thursday which I did. Still not done. All I wanted was gas cleaned out and oil changed.

Not going to happen, insurance, taxes too many modern day components that can go wrong.
Jake just ordered a refurbished engine, from O'Reilly's Auto parts, so he had to buy a cherry picker to change engines. We used to rent them but that cost almost a much as a new one now.
He will be busy now working on the old truck. Hindsight is sure 20'20.
$2,100 for 1986 Nissan. All the work he did was for nothing trying to get it running right, it keeps losing compression. He will keep all the newer parts, like plugs, wires, distributor, valve covers water pump, alternator.
He has changed the motor in my old van 3 times over last 20 years. He bought used engines last one was a new block. He comes in handy, he can fix lots of things.

Mary, is the gas that old? Autos are always needing something.

My hubby used to be good at manly man things but the times have changed. The only time I ever heard him swear out loud was climbing out from under the hood of a 1950 bullet nose Studebaker. Today he would have trouble putting a foot on the bumper of one. I make my youngest daughter or her boy friend do all the manly stuff now.

7 years. I use straight gas with an additive so it started right up last spring but I was starting to worry and wanted to start fresh.

We never use additives but we do try to use non alcohol gas. Do you think maybe the additives did more harm than good? If vehicle is going to sit for a long time, we add a stabilizer but that almost never happens.

I used this before starting it this time. Mostly I used stabil but this was supposed to fight the carmelization of the old gas. We will find our when I get it back. He keeps putting me on the back burner because he doesn't have to do any diagnostics on it. It is a good old truck. But I would not drive it much over 55mph ;) Stuff would probably start falling off that has not been replaced yet.
