The Democrats have shut the government down

Even when they tried to vote on separate bills just to fund the military and government workers with their paycheck, the Democrats voted against doing that, and they are now also voting against providing money for the SNAP assistance program as well.
They did not vote against that, they voted against the way they were claiming the were going to pay for it.

Evidence. Do you have proof of that? Where is your evidence? Do you have references?

SNAP benefits apparently will not be paid next month. Twelve percent of the people in America receive these benefits. Reportedly 52% of the people on SNAP are in the country illegally. Some are expecting riots and Democrat leadership is calling for violent riots in response to their government shutdown. Virginia has reportedly declared a state of emergency as they expect riots. I don't know how many other regions are responding likewise. I wonder how many large screen TVs and other electronics will be stolen in the "food riots"?

What is that a response to? Medicaid so far is still being honored and is a type of welfare, just as SNAP is. illegals are now using slightly more than half of both benefits, depleting the benefits for those who are legally enrolled.
Sorry, I left this out:
Have the Republicans dropped cancelling medicaid or drastically increasing the cost of Premiums?

I think the Democrats do their best to confuse their sycophants by conflating Medicare and Medicaid.

Yep, Medicare is insurance for which we have paid premiums all our working lives; Medicaid is welfare for the poorest among us. Putting them under the same umbrella at the Federal level confuses things too, as the states administer Medicaid using mostly Federal funding, while the state have little to do with Medicare. which comes directly from the Federal Government. Medicaid generally pays providers more than Medicare does and there are no copays, as exist with Medicare.

Very true. But do you know what really irritates me about it? FICA deductions are mandatory (and automatic) but you have to jump through a ton of hoops to qualify for benefits. And anytime the government wants to they can say you don't qualify anymore and cut you off. And if that is all you have, then you have nothing. And people say "Oh well, maybe you didn't qualify in the first place." Yet if insurance companies tried to do business like that, people would scream bloody murder.

I don't know @Axel Slingerland. I have never known anyone over 65 who had benefits, then was cut off. If you have/had Federal representation that cared at all about you, you could petition them for redress. If you are speaking of your son, perhaps you could consult an attorney or again, it doesn't hurt to ask your representatives to represent you.

It wasn't my son. But I have known people who got kicked off that were previously qualified and approved, but were cut off and had to do the robot dance to get their benefits back. Having a lawyer helps them more that it does you. But sometimes "Ya gotta do what ya gotta do."

I'd prefer to see Medicaid, SSI, SSDI, SNAP, etc. all moved into a new Department of Involuntary Taxpayer Charity. It should be run by a committee of working people for 1 year terms paying only their normal wages and benefits with a small bonus for their service. Maybe picked by lottery, like the draft.

Ok, maybe that's unrealistic and even harsh.

It is good to have a social safety net, but when one exists at the government level, there will always be corruption within it.

Try harshly, unrealistic.

Democrats are now weakening. The government employees union have now called for the Democrats to vote for the clean CR. This puts incredible pressure on Democrat leadership as the government employees usually endorse everything the Dems do. The approval of the Democrats as a party is now about 1/2 of Trump's approval in some polls. According to the Daily Mail poll, Trump's approval is the highest it has ever been at 52% and the Democrats are at 26%. Keep in mind that polls routinely undersample Republicans.

Fetterman in Pennsylvania was being threatened with a primary challenge for voting with the Republicans, but based on poll numbers, Fetterman will win against anyone the Democrats choose to run against him.

That's good news.

John doesn't look like a typical politician, and more importantly, he doesn't act like one.

Is Chuck clearly a vampire? Dunno, maybe a Party boy?

Once all of the illegals who are living and being supported financially here in the United States have been moved back to wherever they came from, there will be a whole lot fewer people on all of these programs. The graph (which is online if you look) shows that the number of illegals almost tripled after Biden took office and started bringing in people as “refugees” from all over, and the others came across the border.

The government is shut down now because the liberals want to keep American citizens paying for these illegals to be here and on all of the different programs we have available. It is not just the Hispanics who came in droves across the southern border, but many people for a lot of other countries who were brought here and we are now taking care of all of them.

I was exaggerating above @Yvonne Smith - probably because all of those stupid TikTok videos from entitled abusers got under my skin. :ROFLMAO:

There is nothing fake about them though. Even when I was in high school in the start of the 1970s it was not uncommon to overhear girls approaching graduation bantering about strategies to start pumping out babies to maximize welfare payments. Forced busing really opened our eyes to subcultures we'd never known in the North.

I have met young women in the ER who made the claim that they were trying to become pregnant to claim Medicaid and SNAP. Those who claim that doesn't happen are ill informed.
