Running Out Of Good Movies

Die Alone (2024) is a drama/horror, a twist on the over-tired zombie and pandemic genres. More drama and "What the heck is going on?" than horror, but it does have its gory bits. There is a big twist so I won't say much more... but you might have a good idea before 3/4 of the way through.

I saw it on Amazon Prime Video.

Jacob you keep watching these type movies and you'll need one of these type ' cures'. LOL.

The band used to go see horror flicks in theaters, but I got tired of paying to get us all in only to get kicked out for laughing at how cheesy they were. I called them Texas Chainsaw Pizza Cutter movies, ratings were based on how many pizzas you could make with all the cheese.

Yeah, I might have to check it out. But just because a movie might be cheesy don't necessarily mean it's bad. All the Monty Python movies were cheesy, but the were still good movies.

I don't bother with new movies much. I saw the last Indiana Jones movie and liked it but so many didn't. I was amazed at how old Antonio Banderas got, let alone Harrison Ford. Glad I don't age.
But there are so many oldies that are great. Like I said before, loved The Russians are Coming, The Great Race, Jaws, Thunderball, National Velvet, The Great Excape, My Fair Lady (Move yer Bloomin' Ass!!!), Victor Victoria....

I have about 1,400 movies in various formats, mostly DVD, but a few Blu-Rays, and I like a lot of them. But my all-time favorite movie is Casablanca.

I also have a huge list of DVDs that I bought at the Eureka Library's bookstore for $1 per disk that I've never watched. That is a pretty good price, but there's no way I could afford the MASH Martinis and Medicine Collection, with 81 DVDs there... I bought that new at Costco for $50 when it first came out.

Last night I was looking for a classic comedy but couldn't find one so I just went to recent true stories.

For what became our last Anniversary together (24th, in 2022) I gave this Sound of Music 40th Anniversary DVD Gift Set to Cindy.

And she gave this Casablanca 85th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD Set to me...

Since we already had both films on DVD, neither of us opened them. They remain factory sealed.

And now I have both of them.

My largest DVD set is all 10 seasons of Smallville. It isn't perfect, some episodes can be "blah," but overall I enjoy that show. It featured a lot of decent popular music of its day, the main actors played their roles well, and the overall story is a positive one.

There are even some story arcs with deeper moments and a few tear-jerkers here and there. Aside from the few times he was under some powerful negative influence, Clark Kent always was true to himself, his family, and his friends.

The show even avoided the "CW trap" of turning unpleasantly woke.

That was sweet, I've watched the movie several times raising kids and visiting grandkids, used Do Re Me to teach them to sing, or at least the ones who could sing.

In recent years, however, it seems the word has been highjacked by political activists who are often far-left or socialistic in views and have a larger agenda in mind than standing against racism. That is the woke that has devolved to be used for agendas, to which I often refer.
Superman stood for 'truth, Justice and the American way'. He would, of course, be against racism especially in this country. But the 'social justice' presented by the demented woke of today is not about acceptance of others. It is force feeding ideologies.
We are divided enough.

As far as movies and TV go, I'm not sure where you might live that your world looks anything like what is being portrayed in the media including advertising. Who knew our society was 70% black and 25% other non-white? Or that mixed race and gay couples were the rule rather than the exception? Or that pets need to be served expensive foods that require refrigeration? Or that terrorists are just misunderstood and oppressed?

And it goes on and on and on.

There was a recent CW Superman TV series where Kansas is majority Latino, and Clark Kent seems to have lost his balls entirely. He has two kids and one of them is gay.
