^^^^^ That would probably have been my husband. Especially if there was a big fish in the net,

My brother and SIL & my husband and I used to have a place near Swan Quarter, NC. We fished out on the Pamlico Sound. We caught a wide variety of fish. My husband's health finally got so bad that we had to give up fishing. We sold boat and everything but the tackle.
The most scared I have ever been in my life was out on the sound. When you go way out, there are no landmarks, only water, so distance is hard to judge. A cloud you see might be a long distance away or closer by. We were sitting there, not paying a lot of attention to the clouds. There were a few in the distance but nothing to worry about. Then, suddenly a waterspout popped up at what looked like a half mile from our boats. It was headed right at us! We got everything into the boat as fast as we could and headed back toward the landing at full speed. I tell everybody that I put my foot out and paddled to make more speed.

The waterspout followed us for a few minutes then dissipated.
We (family) have a place down on the Pungo River now. We have a pontoon boat, but it is so big and hard to handle that we hardly ever use it. We are trying to sell it. We fish from piers or the riverbank. So, if I'm gone for a few days at a time, I'll likely be ♫down by the riverside♫.
