The Democrats have shut the government down

In the past some have argued to do away with social security and let people invest it in their own retirement plan. How many do you think would do so or be successful in doing it without losing it? Apply that to the ACA. Many would buy nothing or useless insurance leading hospitals to have to raise their prices when people got treatment but would not or could not pay. Then the insurance companies have to raise their premium prices to adjust to the higher hospital costs. The ACA helped tens of millions on insurance. If Trump and the republicans have a better plan, let's see it. Bear in mind that America has no healthcare plan. Trump has been whining about the ACA for a decade and has done nothing.

Whenever folks can shop for insurance, be it car, house, health, or life, the price has to be competitive. It automatically lowers costs if no government subsidies or mandates are involved.

Yep, the Dems put "temporary" into place and got them through be making them temporary all the while knowing that they would need to be permanent and increasing to keep the program afloat. Some people here don't seem to know history and believe the Democrats are naïve victims of their own decisions.
These people are just plain evil. Since they won't be getting insurance kickbacks, they are wanting money for any future investigation into past activities. $500,000 for each investigation and per device.
????

Given today's news, Trump will be busy with other issues:

Discharge petition to force House vote on Epstein files succeeds with Grijalva’s signature

The Democrats blocked this from going forward. They know that if there was any kind of evidence against President Trump. It would have been brought out years ago, or at least in the last election by Kamala Harris to help her efforts to win the election. When it comes out, it is going to cause a lot of problems, so they are probably not going to do that at this time.

Trump has always admitted he knew Epstein. Almost everyone in his income bracket knew Epstein if they were male. I think he even claimed he was on his jet once, but he found the man so repulsive that he stayed as far away form him as he could. As had been said, if there was really anything in those files against Trump-, they would have been "leaked" long ago during the lawfare or previous campaigns. I suspect the reason that Biden or Harris didn't release them is that the information against Democrats is devastating. We'll see.

Some analysts are now saying that the Democrats leaked the Epstein emails to try to gather the attention of what Rush Limbaugh used to call "the low information voters" from the shutdown fiasco. As a response, the Trump Administration has released the entire collection of Epstein emails. What is in them? I have no idea.

Here ya go. The bombshell emails:

That is why I referred to the "low information voters". They are those who go by one usually biased source and do no research on their own. They redacted the victim name because she testified that Trump did not do anything untoward. The Democrats don't want THAT released.
Funny they were pushing Epstein files so hard during shutdown. Just to distract from what was going on.

Notice the poor people getting nailed by the insurance premium increase that the Democrats claimed was the reason for the shutdown are now not important for the Democrats. They are now trying to use more fraud to smear Trump. Even CNN and CBS are saying that the Democrats were the ones who put the expiration on the insurance subsidies, and many commentators even on the Left are now admitting that Trump banned Epstein from Mar Lago and several girls have testified that Trump did nothing wrong. Another Democrat conspiracy appears to be falling flat.

Yes, it was a crappy plan. But even a crappy plan is better than no plan. And after all the time and effort they put into getting it repealed, which failed one after another in 60 plus House Votes. The Cons still have no plan after 15 years, because they don't want a plan. Trump explained that in one sentence. "I don't care about you, I just want your vote."
As is the politically accepted norm when it comes to MSM reporting, the context of any speech or discussion can be totally eradicated in order to sway the public into believing any and all agendas.
In the case of Trump’s Nevada statement, when repeating his words, instead of depending on what is quickly expedient, it might be better to do the research whilst at the same time avoiding embarrassment.

Perhaps words have a more profound effect on this gentleman than others but cannot the word “whine” be used to describe virtually anyone who openly disagrees with an agenda or observation including your statements about Trump?
I know, it’s petty but one has to admit that it’s at least an astute observation.
I digress and do apologize for going off topic.

To that point, Trum has tried, in his first term and this one, to convince Congress that cross state insurance bidding should be legalized.
Now, I am by no means an insurance professional in that my wife knows far more than I do about the subject but I personally do not call asking the body of Government which is responsible for such investigations and implementations to legalize what is presently illegal as, ‘doing nothing”.

"Trump’s off-the-cuff answer was a typical example of the waffle he sometimes conjures to escape a jam in a photo-op. But he could not disguise the downside of his “win” in the government shutdown, which looks set to end after Democrats failed to secure their top demand: the extension of those enhanced Obamacare subsidies.

Trump and Republicans once again own the issue of health care, with millions of citizens — not just those on ACA plans — afflicted by rising premiums and high deductibles against the backdrop of a wider cost-of-living crisis. And just as in his first term, Trump lacks a comprehensive, detailed plan to bring relief to citizens who lack health care, who can’t afford the plans they have or who know that the loss of a job could leave them without any coverage at all."

Shadow, I don't agree with Trump on some things, but don't you think he is better than the alternative?
I also don't agree with socialism, which seems to be the hope of the democrats and sadly some so-called conservative repubs.
Also, a nation without borders is not a nation.

I agree with most of your take on SSI.
I don't know who the ACA is, so can't comment on that till I look into it.

Never really thought of it like this, but now that you bring it out, I agree.

Edited clips are the way of the Left now, and stuff out of context.
