How are you feeling today?

It's been four days since my occipital nerve block, and while I have been gradually starting to feel better (it can take two weeks to kick in, IF it does...) but today I noticed that my hands don't hurt like normal for the last several months. I was sitting here typing and the movement in my fingers was keeping up with the ol' bean for a change. A very welcome improvement, and a sign that this ONB might be a winner.

I am doing okay today, feeling a little tired but can't complain :)

Still trying to overlook a new permanent health issue for now. Sadly it doesn't seem to be one I can will away.
Is it something that you can help with diet or lifestyle changes, @Jacob Petersheim ? The doctors told me that my CHF would only get worse, and the same thing with the kidney failure that came along with it. After making diet changes and lifestyle changes, I am actually back into the normal area for CHF and almost out of kidney failure, too. It is worth looking into, and there are a lot of good health books to read that can offer natural treatments that might help.

I'm not giving in quickly.

There seems to be some promise in getting my sugar under control, which I'm doing well with, and making sure I get enough of some antioxidants I may not have enough of in my diet. There is also something called "NAC drops" but I'll try asking the eye doc about that when I get dragged in.

So more egg yolks, cruciferous vegetables, and greens such as spinach.

This thing of what humans are meant to eat is totally HARD to figure out, @Jacob Petersheim ! I have read books all the way from completely vegan (Dr. Michael Greger) to completely carnivore, and most places in between, and they all seem to have good reasons for their preferences of how we should eat, as well as examples of how many people went from very sick to healthy using that way of eating.
There are two main things that seem to be consistent in all of the programs, that I can see. One is eating lots of vegetables , fruit, and greens, and the other one is to avoid processed foods completely.

I have tried OMAD, keto, Atkins, as well as plant based eating. I actually haven’t seen any major difference with either one, and have been pretty much leaning towards plant based because I enjoy those foods more and don’t like living on mostly meat, eggs, and other protein foods, although it seems to work for some people, and work well for them.

Now, I am investigating proper food combining, and I think there might be something to doing this, so I am going to try it for a while longer and see how it goes. I feel good, and have been losing weight —not gaining, and it seems to be something I could live with indefinitely. (I started a thread about this in the health section of the forum)

I have posted before that humans are omnivores based on how the digestive system is constructed. It is what has allowed us to become the most widely-spread warm-blooded creature on the planet. I think some of the things we have done to our food supply has compromised that in order to support and feed our massive numbers is troubling, but without all that there would be massive starvation of the human population. We in the West among more advanced economies have the benefit of having some choice with regard to our diet. Choose your food and take what supplements you feel you need to make up for what has happened to our food supply.
