Who did you last speak too

I just told my son "It's after 9:00p, time to turn the AC on." It's 87° in the house.
Oh wow, That's way too hot. I feel like it's 87 in my house when I start drinking hot coffee, but it's usually 69-70 degrees.

I have the AC set for 82°, and we tolerate that well enough. But from 4:00p to 9:00p is the most expensive time of the day for power. So we don't run the AC then. It was 100° today, but when I posted that it had cooled down to 87° outside, which even though it was the same inside as it was outside, the outside was much more comfortable because of a light wind. We went out to watch Bakersfield waste tax payer dollars on the 4th of July boom-boom. They were a long way off but we would see them from the parking lot of our apartment building.

My oldest son came over to see us this afternoon, and we had a really good visit together. He and his wife had just returned from a visit with our family out in Idaho, so he had pictures and videos to share from that trip, and we enjoyed that and had a bbq chicken and potato salad dinner together.

My youngest daughter which I talk to every morning, oldest one seldom calls, yet she visits us with her sister, or comes down on vacation.
Talked to son yesterday.
My daughter still laughs over hubby and I at grocery store 'dispute' a couple years ago. She brings it up now and then.

I love my basement and found if I don't have air conditioning, turning the thermostat fan to ON instead of AUTO, it will draw the cool air up from the basement.
It is funny, one of the last people I talked to recently was being grateful for air conditioning in the store. She commented that her parents did not have air conditioning when she was little. I said NOBODY had air conditioning when we were little--not in the house, not in the car. We would occasionally go to the movies to enjoy it.
We had FANS. Do I sound like a curmudgeon?

Fireworks would be the first thing I would cut until a balanced budget was reached.

I texted my daughter tonite but then my hubby and other daughter came home from an open air concert. I felt compelled to talk to them.;)

One of my friends was the last person that I spoke to.

I believe that people who are in Congress (federal or state level) should not get paid without a balanced budget, since their paychecks are coming from a budget that has been voted on by both houses of Congress, and signed into law by the President or Governor. That would be good incentive to get the job done by the deadline.

In Eureka, they cut the funding for the July 4th boom-boom, but they did it how I would have. They had already paid for that year's event (what ever year it was) and a few days later it was on the news, the City Council had voted unanimously to cancel any future July 4th boom-boom events due to the high cost. But if anyone wanted to raise money for them privately, the were welcome to do so. Call "whoever" for details on how to go about sponsoring an event. Every year after that, the boom-boom was paid for with sponsored hike and bike races, yard sales, bake sales, a flea market, a donations booth at the farmers market, etc.

By the way, the last person I talked to was a CalFire Firefighter who was on his way home after a month of 12 hour days, and stopped at Denny's for dinner. We had a nice "across the aisle" chat.
