What's your Weather like today

Clear and sunny. It hit 32 F./0 C. last night, so there may be some stuff impacted. We haven't walked the property yet today, so we'll see later. I suspect that more apples will be on the ground and some of the squash and pumpkin leaves might be wilted.

Woke up to 38 F./3 C. and rain yesterday. I was thinking we might get our first snow yesterday, but it did not happen. The temperature stayed about the same all day but the rain stopped, so we went into the gardens and harvested all the pumpkins and winter squash. We also harvested the remaining crabapples and the remaining eating apples. Somehow my tractor tire developed a leak, so that slowed things down a bit. We harvested the carrots we have in containers as well, so now we have to decide if the carrots, onions, and potatoes in the ground need to be dug and collected. It is quite late for our first frost, and my wife pulled up a memory post from Facebook that showed a significant snowfall on this date 5 years ago today. It snowed to the north of us a significant amount--8 inches as last i checked, but that is on the other side of the Alaska Range, so we are maybe safe for a while. Time to get winter tires on though.

It got down to 28 F./-2 C. here last night, so many things were frozen. We harvested much of the garden yesterday, but a flat tire on the tractor has made things more difficult. We used wheelbarrows instead. I think I will clean out even the heated greenhouse and bring in everything that shouldn't be frozen such as window openers and some thermometer with batteries. Sunday is predicted to be quite cold. We'll see how it goes.

Hold the cold up by you a little bit longer. After the terrible rains this year all my garden rotted. On a whim, I put in some winter squash and pumpkin seeds in at the end of JULY! knowing it would not be enough time. But I went out yesterday to pick some seeds and lo and behold, There be pumpkins here!!! I don't recognize the squash so whatever was in the seed packet was not what I had wanted but will try one tomorrow.
Today the weather is another beeeeyooootifulllll fall day.

Woke up to 24 F./ -4.4 C. this morning and clear. We went to bed with 34 F./ 1 C. last night and raining. We expected to awaken to our first snow of the season, but, although the snow on the mountains has come down to near the base, no snow at this level. Denali/ Mt. McKinley is bright and shiny and completely (as far down as I can see) covered in snow.

beeeeyooootifulllll
My spellchecker just choked on that beeeeyooootifulllll word. :coffee:

Our weather has been nice this week. It hasn't 100°F all week long!

Happy Fall, everyone. Just don't fall. I'm getting to be very good at that. (Falling, not not falling...)

Started out cool and cloudy, the vicinity of 45F. But it cleared and is expected to reach 87F. We're expecting several hot days now, and very dry.

This Evening and Tonight:

Heavy rain clearing during this evening with scattered heavy showers and clear spells overnight.
Storm Amy will bring severe gales at times in coastal regions, with locally damaging gusts, and widely very windy for inland areas too. Turning fresher. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Windy and cloudy with temps in the mid-40s F. We have another storm coming ashore tomorrow and the remnants of a typhoon scheduled for the weekend. We often have strong storms at this time of year, but this extra-tropical typhoon is predicted to be the strongest in at least 6 years. If we are lucky it will stay to the west and hit eastern Russia instead of Alaska. Very windy here at the moment, but I don't know the strength as I don't have an anemometer. Anchorage to the south of us had 56 mph at the airport.
