Everytime You Go Away (yes, everytime is one word)

Paul Young recorded this song in 1985 and it became a #1 hit. I don't dislike the song, or Young's version, but it's not my cup of tea. It seems plodding and repetitive. The song doesn't have enough words and syllables in the lyrics so the performers fill in with a lot of moaning and note meandering to take up time? :)

I didn't know the song was written by Daryl Hall (of Hall & Oates). It was recorded on their album Voices in 1980, but never released as a single. I like their version better. There is more variety in the repetitiveness. ;) Their live performances have a Southern gospel sound (which features wandering notes). The organ is also more prominent. ( Just my 2 cents, fwiw )
