Supertramp is probably better known for its lighter, "poppier" recordings that always played well as radio singles.

However they also did some work in album rock and "progressive" experimental rock. These can be a lot heavier, more atmospheric, often with very spare lyrics and meant almost as "operas."

The lyrics are just one layer here. This is one track of an album really meant to be listened to straight through. Many people will not care for it on a superficial listen, but there is a lot here in the instrumentation - and even the silences.
