My take is that the UN knows its time for suckling at the teat of Americans is coming to an end. They want additional sources of funding in order to maintain their goals of domination, ultimately as a socialist world government.

To that end they are pressing for the authority to levy taxes.

The enemy here is clearly London. That's the tentacle of the UN/WEF being employed in this case, in the guise of the London-based International Maritime Organization, an agency of the UN.

A short description in the first few minutes here:

I am pretty sure that I read that President Trump has refused to have anything to do with this tax, and we, along with other nations , will not be paying it. I do not see how the UN thinks that they can levy a tax on other countries, and if it comes to that, we would possibly just leave the UN and kick them out of the building they use here in America.

I have seen mention of kicking the UN out of the country, but I somehow doubt that will be done. The Rockefellers donated the land to build the UN on in New York City and dislodging them would probably take an act of Congress. We could, however, stop funding many of the agencies that are anti-America. It is a real case of biting the hand that feeds them for these agencies. As Trump has pointed out, he has been working harder at ending wars than any part of the UN, and that was the express purpose of the organization when it was founded. Eisenhower warned against the "Military-Industrial Complex" that was formed and served the nation so well during WWII, just as Washington warned against "Foreign Entanglements". We are victims of both at this moment in history.

It concerns me that the US does not seem to have one single true ally today, aside from maybe Japan on a good day. This seems very fishy to me.

I suspect what is going on is that some extra-national entity wants America stamped out, while most countries not directly in its grip are basically too weak and afraid and dealing with their own troubles to raise a peep about it.

I guess it depends on what you want to call an ally. For many years--the decades since WWII--the U.S. has been the power in the Western World. Europe has grown and developed, largely due to the U.S. paying most of the bills which permitted the Europeans and Japanese to grow their economies and "suck at the teat" of the U.S. economy. Trump is trying to wean them, and, as any of you who have had children know, sometimes the weaning process is a painful and stress-filled situation. That is largely what is going on now. China has certainly made inroads into places like India, Brazil, and Venezuela. The UK has unfortunately fallen by the wayside a bit, but they are still our greatest ally along with Israel, although Israel is very self-serving and knows that without the U.S., they would not exist. Germany became a rather strong ally of Russia...until they weren't based largely on the cheap energy they were receiving from the Russians. Germany still relied on the .S. to keep them from being overrun by their de facto energy ally. We still have Japan somewhat and the Philippines, and, of course, Taiwan, which may be the ally that drags us into war with China. Trump seems to have drawn many of the Arab nations closer, but only time will tell if that relationship lasts as it depends in large part on keeping Iran under control, and, as we saw in both the Obama and Biden Administrations, if a Dem should gain the White House, the Arabs will fall away even as the respective administrations try to coddle them to the detriment of the Israelis.
