TONY' THOUGHT JOURNAL 2.0

Tomorrow, I go to the lab for a blood test to check my platelet level. While I am there, I will get a B12 injection.

I think my platelets are still low even though I've been taking a B complex vitamin. This morning, I noticed a large black and blue mark on my right arm. I don't know how I got it. I don't remember banging it. I guess that's a good indication that my platelets are low.

I've never felt this exhausted in my life, whether it's from the cancer or the treatment I don't know. It's very frustrating.

B12 can be taken orally, but many believe it should be taken as a separate supplement and sublingually (under the tongue), especially if you have had any significant stomach issues. I would assume the treatment is what is making you feel tired @Tony Page. I am certainly keeping you in my thoughts.

This past Wednesday, I went to have my blood test taken in the lab at NY Cancer and Blood. My platelet count last week was low, The doctor wanted another test done. After withdrawing my blood, they took one of the 4 viles and put it in a blood analyzing machine. In about 10 minutes, it printed a report. I was happy that my platelet count was normal. While there, I received a B12 shot. I will be getting a B12 shot once a week.

The B12 shot gave me an energy boost at lease for a day and a half. This afternoon, I took a nap and conked out as soon as my head hit the pillow.

My 10 year old grandson Kenny is in a contest to win 20k. If he should win, it will go toward his college fund. At this point in time, he is in 11th place. Of course, I'm proud of him, but even if he wasn't my grandkid, he's the brightest kid I've ever met, he got a photographic memory.
I've been voting for him everyday, your allowed one vote every 24 hours. Your allowed one free vote daily, that's what I do.

I normally don't do this, but if anyone is interested in voting, I'll leave the link.

Glad the blood test turned out normal and you got at least some energy back. That must be a worry off your shoulders.
I tried to vote but they said you have to log in to Facebook to verify you're eligible to vote. I don't have a Facebook account. Maybe not everyone is eligible? :(

Sorry I forgot to mention you need to be on face book. I join a few months ago, I'm not liking it that much.

I was looking for a Bluetooth speaker and CD player so I could play music on my deck.
This past week, I purchased both units. The Bluetooth speaker is a monster, with many nice features. It's made by Altec Lansing and has a 15" woofer and horned tweeder. There's a pull out handle so it could be moved around, similar to a rolling suitcase. It has a stand and a wireless microphone. I think my grandkids will enjoy singing into the mic.

The CD player is Bluetooth and has a Cassette player also. It has speakers built in, so it can be used independently. Most important to me is that it plays MP3 CDs. I've made quite a few MP3 CDs over the years, and now I'll be able to listen to them again.

I just received the speaker yesterday, and now I can't wait to try it.

That is a HUGE speaker, @Tony Page ! Does it have to be plugged in, or is it a rechargeable usb speaker ? I have a small Bluetooth speaker that I keep in the bedroom window and I play it when I am exercising on the vibration plate. It is just a small one , but works perfect for what I want it to do, and is connected to my iPhone.
I do not have any CD’s or any stored music, so I just use either Pandora or Spotify to play whatever music I want to listen to (and sing along) when I am standing on the vibration plate.
Otherwise, I just listen with headphones, so I do not disturb Bobby.

Thats nice that you can sing along, I can't sing so it would definitely disturb Jake.

Yes, it is a huge speaker. I went a little crazy. My wife is not happy. I thought it might cheer me up because of my love of music and audio equipment. I always played music. When I was working The first thing I did when I got home was put a vinyl album on the turntable and put the stereo on. I think that Influenced two of my daughters to study music in college.
When I was working I'd make cassettes or CD for the people I worked with. One day the president of the company came to me and asked for a copy of a CD I made he heard it and liked it. I enjoyed doing that and getting compliments.

The speaker plugs in, has a built in amp, it's 650 watts. It meant to be a DJ / party setup. Has lights, multiple inputs, it has a mixer, so you could sing along with the wireless mic and play a musical background. I like this feature because my 9 year old grandson sang Billy Joel "Up Town Girl" at a school concert recently, I want to encourage him to keep singing. He's very good with music, he plays the piano by ear. He'll hear a song and in a short time he's playing it.

Do you believe in coincidences? Or jinxes? The other day, I was talking to my cousin. I don't know how the subject came up, but I remember telling her I haven't fallen in quite a while. I usually fall at least once every couple of months, I had maybe a couple of near misses, where I grabbed onto something, but no falls.

This morning, I made up for all those near misses. I had a pretty good fall or bad one, depending on how you look at it. I fell outside on the cement. I hurt my knee, my elbow, my hip, and was thoroughly shaken up. My wife patched up my arm and elbow. My knee didn't bleed it just got bruised and swollen. I fell onto my right side, my hip, leg, knee, and foot hurt when I walked. I also have a slight headache, probably from my neck it snapped when I hit the ground, I guess like whiplash.

I was scheduled for a B12 shot tomorrow, I called the doctors office to let them know that if my leg was hurting, where I had difficulty driving, I may not make it. They had a nurse call me back. She listened to what happened and my symptoms, and she recommended that I go to the ER.
I decided to wait and see how I feel tomorrow.

I hate this.

I hope you didn't hurt yourself too bad, Tony. :( It is hell getting older, isn't it.

Tomorrow, June 17, I go into Manhattan to have the fiducial markers inserted. I spoke to the doctor who's doing the procedure, and he claims the procedure itself takes 5 minutes. It is done using local anesthesia. They will insert three markers with a needle into my prostate.

I have to admit I am nervous about this procedure, but I am also glad it'll be over tomorrow.

My understanding is that these markers are used to locate the prostate cancerous areas during the radiation treatment.

I will be getting radiation treatment 5 days a week with weekends off for 26 treatments.

Now the fun begins.
