TONY' THOUGHT JOURNAL 2.0

I met with my MSK Radiation Oncologist today to discuss my prostate cancer. My appointment was pushed up from the 25th to today.
I received a whole lot of information, and my head is still spinning. First, I read the biopsy report wrong. The results may not be as bad as I thought. I thought the cancer spread outside the prostate. It may not be the case. The pet scan scheduled for May 2 will be more informative.

The treatment plan will start with hormone treatment, which will start this Monday, the 21st. After 3 months, the radiation treatment will start for 26 days with weekends off.

If I heard correctly, the harmone treatment will continue after the radiation treatment is finish.

I don't know how I will hold up through this, I'm not looking forward to this treatment, I'm told the alternative could be worse. Time will tell.

Tony I just saw this thread, not familiar with the site and so busy off and on I didn't see you started a journal here. I'm still thinking of you and hoping for the best. Take care.

You know what I find strange. I've lived in New York all my 81 years. I've never been to the top of the Empire State Building or to the Statue of Liberty. The closest I've come was I passed the Statue of Liberty a few times by boat and of course I've seen it from the shore. I've gone into the Empire State Building once, but I never took the elevator to the top.

In the 60s, the World's Fair in New York State was close to where I lived. It ran 2 years, and I never went.

I wonder how many people live near a major attraction and have never visited it themselves?

I attended the 1964 World's Fair and I have been to the top of the Empire state and the Statue of Liberty. I never visited the World Trade Center before it fell, however. When I was a child in New Jersey, we went to the Macy's parade and we used to go down to the docks to see the liners. My father rescued a drunk who had fallen into the water there.

I've never Saw the macy's parade In person, But it's a yearly watch for the TV.
I have gone to see macy's and other store windows at christmas time. Been to rockefeller center a few times at christmas. Took my kids to see the macy santa clause A couple of time.

My biggest enjoyment was going to the museum of natural history and hayden planetarium. Every few months they change the show at the planetarium I would try to make all of them.

@Tony Page Sorry to hear about the cancer. Doctors are not as concerned about it at your age as they would have been 20 years ago. Since nearly every man gets prostrate cancer and every women breast cancer before they reach 90 and most of these cancers are slow growing, many doctors had rather see no treatment than treatment that might kill the patient quicker than the cancer. It sounds like you have good doctors. I found meditation, reducing stress, helped me, at least mentally.

I have always checked out all the sites in areas where I live. I live not seen anything back East, but all the major sites in the Western USA. I enjoy the bird photos. I quit feeding birds years ago because it attracted opossums where the birds scratched and beaked it out of the feeder onto the ground. I hate opossums as they look like big ugly rats.

This is gonna sound crazy, but my birds tell me When the feeder is empty they follow me around the property, Whistling to get my attention, I'll respond by whistling to them and we'll go back and forth for a while.

As far as the Cancer goes, I'm more concerned about The treatment then Disease. The hospital Where I'm getting treatment is Memorial Sloan Kettering. They are one of the top cancer hospital in this area. My wife went their for breast cancer, and is considered cured.

I'm really big into nature and animals.
It's been a joy my whole life. I've been Watching 2 italian wall lizards, That are living in my front entrance stoop. They are non native species. The story is a few years back they escaped from a crate that dropped, and they adapted to our north eastern climate. I've only seen 2 together. All I can say is this excites me.

I have a photo, I had to crop and blow it up so it's not the clearest photo.

2 days ago, we found two dead newly born kittens ( still had umbilical cords) in our yard. My daughter tried to revive them, by massaging and warming them, it didn't work. They had such beautiful markings, it saddens me that we couldn't save them.
We have seen feral cats running through our property daily. One may be living under our new shed. It's possible if there are any other kittens in the litter, that's where they are under the shed. I'll have to keep watch for them.
I remember many years ago, there was a litter of kittens in my barn. Mother was not taking care of a very pretty black and white one, she actually removed it from the rest of the litter. I grabbed it in the hopes of taking care of it a little female. She looked very sick, had dull, watery eyes, and was listless. I went to the local pet shop and got formula and a bottle. The first time I tried to feed her, I got very little down her throat. I had to force her mouth open. It was tightly closed. The second time, while trying to get her mouth open, I don't know where she got the strength, but she clamped on my finger and broke the skin on one end. It was the weirdest thing because she died right after she clamped on to my finger, after I got my finger clear, I went in the house to wash it and put a band-Aid on with antibiotic ointment. My finger was swollen to twice its size. I kept cleaning the wound, trying to get it to bleed and put antibiotic ointment on it. The next day, it was back to normal size. It just hurt a little.

We had a cat once that got pregnant too young. The kittens looked like they were born slightly premature. She didn't even attempt to take care of them. We weren't successful either. I think cats know when their kittens don't stand a chance under normal conditions. Could be your cat removed these two to avoid attracting predators. (I'm trying to think positive.) Our outdoor cats used to move their kittens to different locations occasionally.
