Thanks, Joe. I found it on YouTube. LINK

Reminds me of Farm Aid Saturday night. I tuned in several times at random hoping to see a few stars, like Willie Nelson. Just happened to catch him around midnight and one of the songs he sang was, "The Last Leaf (on the Tree)." A different take.

Thanks! I thought of O'Henry's "The Last Leaf"!

Biggest home game of the season going on right now---Alabama. Georgia is a 3-point favorite, but it isn't looking good: Alabama 24, Georgia 14 (halftime).

Night game means the whole town is basically on lockdown all afternoon. Streets are empty from kick off until half time. Then it depends on the score and who's playing. Some, if not all, of the same group are renting the house in the back yard. Three years in a row is a record. If they spend as much time on their studies as they do preparing for football party day, they'll all graduate cum laude. The newest trend is red & black striped bib overalls. Kinda cute. lol

Ireland? How unusual is that? Go Steelers! 🏈

I was interested in the Georgia-Alabama game, because UGA almost always loses to Alabama. They are 1-7 against Alabama under the current coach, but 108-19 overall. It's a curse.

I can't just listen to a Georgia football game, because you have to know the players' names, and the announcers speak in football language.
I'm with you! I feel the same with Penguin Hockey! (Steelers 14, Vikings 6 @ halftime)
(@ End of 3rd Qtr: Steelers 21 - Vikings 6)

My overalls are blue jean material and blue jean blue, like they always were.

It started 2 weeks ago. Satellite TV pixelation, sound stutter, screen briefly flashing to black. Lasted for hours but stopped late at night through late morning. Symptoms fit those of interference. Nothing new in the house except a few LED lightbulbs (lightbulbs? really?).

A website that shows transmitters and antennas registered with the FCC (along with their GPS location) finds one within 3 miles. Across the street one house down only 200 feet away. Operates at 154 MHz. A zebra? Apparently you can fix interference with ferrite chokes clamped onto power cords and/or coax cables.

These are not expensive, but there are many different kinds, and you have to know the frequency you want to block and not block. [btw, they are subject to 25% tariffs as of 8 pm 9/30/25.] None of the ones on Amazon include the necessary specs, except inner diameter, and many reviews start with "I wish I could leave no stars."

Then the interference, or whatever, stopped for a whole week.

Back again Sunday. Another website says the FCC license across the street expired in 2012. That is rental property. No way the same people are living there. I've wrapped some aluminum foil over some cables/cords, just for the heck of it. Shouldn't help, and doesn't, but when I touch it the TV responds. Is that a clue?

Nothing since Sunday. Something tells me this will just disappear and never happen again, but only if I spend a lot of time fixing it. I've already wasted 2 days on this.

(10/3/25) Friday

My GP doctors have nagged me about taking vitamin B-12 supplements for years. I'm not always consistent taking them, partly because it doesn't seem to make any difference. Acceptable blood level is 232-1245. Mine is always around 250. They think it should be at least 350 for seniors.

About a month ago I discovered B-12 berry flavored gummies. They are like potato chips. Can't seem to stop with one. Warned her about this lack of control ahead of time Friday when they took a blood sample and told her if this doesn't raise the level then oral supplements never will. The lab results came in today and the B-12 level was ">2000" ! So I guess the oral route can work. :ROFLMAO:

No more B-12 gummies are allowed in the house now (along with peanut butter and ice cream). :)

I haven't heard of any problems with high levels of B12, but it probably isn't a good idea to run above the testable levels. Did you have to hold the gunnies under your tongue, or could you just chew and swallow? Intrinsic factor in your stomach is required to absorb B12. That is why it is often given by injection, but I understand that some intrinsic factor generated in saliva. Seniors often have trouble absorbing B12 due to stomach issues.

Just chew and swallow. Yeah, I wasn't too worried about B-12 overload. AI search claims "The liver can store vitamin B12 for up to 12 months, providing a significant reserve." If that's true, I may be able to do this once a year and get it over with. :)

I also got some vitamin D gummies. (They nag me about that too.) D is not water soluble, so I was more careful (the flavors were lousy). Acceptable D levels are 30-100, and mine went up from 21 to 77 since last time. I may continue with the D gummies.

The new "advised level" of vitamin D is between 50 and 100 if the provider orders the proper assay. I know many who exceed the 100 level without harm. The effectiveness of vitamin D during Covid was the motivator behind all this.

(10/11/25) Saturday

TV interference sessions don't last as long, are less disruptive, and not every day now. Whoever it is must be getting bored with whatever they are doing. I was going to move the satellite dish anyway, because I want it on the same side of the driveway as the house in case I get the driveway paved next year. So I've dropped everything else and moved this project to the front burner.

I'm going to replace to old coax cable with the newer, quad shield (interference) cable. I didn't want to take the old pole down until I know this can work. A place in Michigan had a 4 foot 2-inch outer diameter DirecTv OEM mast with brackets for fastening to a deck railing, made in Taiwan, for less than you can buy a plain old metal pipe. And then you'd need an adapter to make it 2" wide ($40).

Stepped into a fire ant nest pulling the old cable out of the ground. Ran into a nest of "pavement" ants digging the hole for the pole. They run away from you instead of toward you. I felt rather sorry for them, because the fire ants are chasing all the nice ants out of town. But I digress... I was going to stop there until Sunday, but everything was going so well, I also got the dish moved and set up.

Before running new cable, I thought I'd hook it up to the old wiring just to see if everything was still working. I could never get the dish pointed in the right direction. It's a nuisance to run upstairs to check every little adjustment. Things like this make me paranoid. I start thinking DirecTv is trying to force me to schedule a service call by cutting off the signal.:rolleyes:

Nothing good on TV on weekends anyway.
