I usually start out with my morning cup of coffee, and later in the day, I may have a second cup of coffee, or I might make hot tea instead. Here in the South, people drink iced tea year around, but I am not a big fan of ice tea, although in hot weather in the summer, I do drink it sometimes, as well as iced coffee.
My mom used to make hot tea in the winter and I have that happy memory of us drinking our cups of tea together, so sometimes, it is just more satisfying than coffee.

Coffee, no tea in decades, tea started hurting my stomach long ago.
Never drank hot tea, although drank ice tea many years before it hurt.

Just the opposite with me. Tea used to bother me on an empty stomach, but no more. I used to drink coffee all day long, but now I'm developing an over-reaction to the caffeine. 
Now I'm a tea person. I think I would have always preferred tea, if it were easier to prepare. There were no tea vending machines that I know of. I've learned to use the Mr. Coffee strategically to keep hot tea in the pipeline all day.

It's my taste buds. My wife said that I was a super taster when she was a live. That's why I didn't like that and some other things. I was already to be a coffee drinker when I was younger, but my tastebuds blew that out of the water. I tried over the years, but I gave up. My wife even did all she could to see if I would eventually like it and I was open to the idea. The end result was still the same.
