Vladimir Putin can't be allowed to "play games" with a proposed ceasefire deal, Sir Keir Starmer has warned, as he prepares to host a virtual meeting of the 'coalition of the willing'.
Around 25 leaders are expected to join the call this morning, in which they will discuss in more detail the peacekeeping mission the prime minister has called the 'coalition of the willing'.

A 'coalition of the willing' is interesting, Smitty. What I say below this is my opinion and a general opinion held by everyday American conservatives as far as I can tell.

Some news reports are saying that Russia's main aim in the truce talks is to have the control of Kursk back and the Ukrainians out of that area. I can only say that they want what is best for them.

For myself I will say that I would not trust Putin or Z. I think one is as corrupt as the other, only Putin has more power.

I do feel for both the Ukrainian people and the Russian people. Both groups have little say over their own fate as far as I can tell.

I follow American conservative political forums to see what ordinary people are thinking. It seems to me that most just want to stop funding Ukraine and to have no American boots on the ground to defend Ukraine or to keep their peace. The Biden administration spent huge amounts of money we couldn't spare on this war while refusing to supply either one soon enough for Ukraine to make the best use of them.

Many of us are happy to see Europe and Starmer take it over, fund it, defend it and end it. As Trump says, stop the killing.

Trump is still trying to get some form of cease-fire going. Now Ukraine has agreed and Russia is balking. Russia wants some form of long-term agreement, while Ukraine wants a 30-day cease fire. Russia thinks Ukraine just wants a cease-fire so they can rearm and reposition troops as is often done with cease-fires in the past. Russia wants a long-term agreement but has too many demands that are not acceptable to Ukraine or the West as a whole. Trump wants a stoppage of the killing and he wants Europe to take over defending itself so that he can pivot the U.S. military toward China. We'll see how that all works out. There is no way the U.S. can fight both Russia and China on opposite sides of Eurasia.
