Shoutbox

I looked but, to be honest, I didn't understand a word I saw. What is it? What does it do? How would we use it? Do you think we would enjoy it? Would it light up our lives?

I don’t need it.

Just want you guys opinions.
A shoutbox isn’t a necessary feature anymore. It’s not worth the costs for the add on. I’ve seen too many forums lose daily activity from it as it defeats the purpose of a forum.

I’d recommend investing the money into something else that would enhance the entire forum.

Such as, a cms system possibly:

Actually a good idea, I will look into this.

Chats lead to the demise of a forum. This is what happened to the old UK based senior forum. Admins had to hire moderators 24/7 for the chats and then hours were spent reviewing questionable chats by the admins. to decide who gets banished or put in the hot box. Their forum died first, then the entire carnival was scraped. I think the name was Buzz 50.

Just my opinion, but I say keep the forum simple. Forums are like a menu at a restaurant. If you get too many items on the menu then the quality goes down and time in making a selection is longer.

You are on the right track. Offer a main category let's say Hamburger or Sandwiches, then put the varieties offered next, example Patty Melt, with side and condiment choices as several boards below that. Have the forum main "forums" all easy to see. It looks good as is and just some tweaking is all that is necessary.
