Question about attached images

Does anyone know why attached images sometimes show up larger than the originals? It causes them to be out of focus. Is it something I'm doing wrong?

Speaking for myself, I have this site set at 125% magnification in Chrome because of aging eyeballs. I assumed that was why I was seeing magnified images as well as text size.

Thanks, @Smithy. I think I figured out what's happening. (Trial and error using only photos that are wider than they are tall.)

For attachments, it enlarges them to 125% of the original, up to 1000 pixels wide. For any photo larger than 1000 pixels, it reduces them to 1000 pixels. But it is not rescaling the image, it's just zooming either in or out. That's what makes things a little blurry sometimes.

It is doing the same thing when I link to a photo using Imgur hosting website. Probably others as well.

However, if you use a thumbnail, it opens that separate tab showing the photo in its original size. If I want to post an image where the details are important (not often) I'll just use an attachment by thumbnail, or resize up to 1000 pixels and upload to Imgur.

(Edit to add: It could be the max size is 1250 pixels, not 1000.:confused:)
