Piers Morgan said he was grateful to New Yorkers for electing Mamdani as mayor of America's largest city. He said that up to yesterday, London had the worst mayor in the Western developed world, but now New York is in contention for the title. Having a spoiled rich guy with no managerial experience in New York makes London appear to be falling into second place in that category. :)

Wasn't the mayor of London recently elected to a third 4-year term? That would be difficult for anyone considering the recent problems with inflation and covid across the world. Or were those elections rigged also? lol

I suppose it could affect America, indirectly. Seems Islam is rising around the world.

New York is New York and there’s only 3 things + 1 that I can see that might cripple the capital of capitalism.
1. Being Muslim isn’t all that threatening unless suddenly Sharia Law becomes the greater law than the rule of law.
2. If Mamdani wasn’t just politik’n’ and making rash promises, he will have to amp up corporate, land, small business, utility and gas taxes to pay for all the free stuff he guaranteed thereby causing a major move-out by citizens and businesses.
3. I doubt that he will but if he defunds the city police / sheriffs dept’s, Trump will undoubtedly deploy whatever Federal forces he can to back up the local law enforcement agencies.
In other words, There’ll be some hot times in the city.

+1…..Mamdani is known to be Anti-Semitic and as a Muslim, he might also have it in for Christians as well. We’ll see how that all plays out shortly.

Anti Semitic and very much against Israel. I don't know if there is any kind of sheriff's jurisdiction in NYC> All I ever hear about is NYPD. New York may end up like Detroit and other cities with large Muslim populations. When he told his made up story about his aunt, it was directed to Muslim voters there. The Miami mayor is expecting $200 million in real estate investment from NYC refugees in the next 6 months, and the Texas Stock Exchange may get a big boost if a lot of the Wall Street folks relocate and start trading from there.

Speaking of the NYPD, I was just reading that there’s a large surge of resignations. Seems that Mamdani wants to hire social workers and such instead of law enforcement officers.
I thought that idea went down hill when it was tried in several areas after the G. Floyd debacle.

I’m sure that the folks in NY City are going to feel ultra safe now.

It could be that the non-Muslims didn't vote.
NY didn't seem to have actual good choices. I liked Sliwa but he was not flashy enough to win. I worry that we are all heading that way. We haven't had good choices for political offices for a long time and we get comfortable with those we have in already. I definitely would not feel it worth it to run these days altthough I am not up on how to take advantage of all the corruption money. People who are honest are not quite up to dealing with the dishonesty. Trump had enough larceny and love of the country to make a difference and those into corruption definitely don't want his differences made. Obama promised 'change' and that really started the ball rolling to destroy the country.. Look at the AG just elected in VA. Why? He was recorded saying he wanted to kill the wife and children of his conservative opponents. What a great slogan to run on. Times they are a changin'.

I figure folks in NYC and London are just as smart as everyone else, and likely less gullible. They are capable of making their own decisions. There are enough people who want to see Mamdani fail, that he probably will. And even if he succeeded in anything an anti-Muslim YouTube News video would pop up the next day with a catchy title that gives a different "twist" on things. It will do no harm to focus on helping people who aren't wealthy for a change. Progress is slow.

So was Hitler. Who was anti-Jew, but this guy is anti-Jew, Christian and American all wrapped up in one big fat radical package.
Wealthy people give jobs to people who won't need help. I think welfare was the worst thing that happened to this nation. AI is the second worst thing since it is taking all the factory jobs that along with inventors and technology made America great.
Although I do worry about AI which is increasingly taking most factory jobs for past 40 years now.
