New here from Alaska

I am a newbie here as a refugee from another forum. I have lived in this house for 33 years now. It was mostly wilderness when we arrived, but things have developed as the roads improved, and we are now getting squeezed by new stuff. We once had 6 kids, goats, pigs, sheep, sled dog, and about every kind of normal poultry you can think of and several large gardens and greenhouses. The gardens are still around, and we raise a substantial part of our food supply there. The greenhouses are for things that don't grow well outside here. The children are out of the house though and all are married with children of their own, so we have 18 grandkids so far. All the animals are gone except for a few chickens to keep us supplied with eggs and some meat, so the housing and space has been repurposed to other things. We have been married for 48 years and still going. Happy to find a new home, as I don't do any of the "normal" social media things.

Hey Don!! Glad we have a place to keep in touch with some SOCers. I'm not giving up hope that our old stomping grounds will get fixed before long.

I don't know. No one has been able to contact Ken. I wonder if he died or is seriously ill. Once established here , I may not go back. I waste enough time on line that two forums may be more than I want.

I'm sure you remember how we all freaked out last time... calling the local police for a wellness check, etc. I feel like Ken has let us all down by not trying to communicate with SOMEONE, especially Yvonne and John. I hope he's OK, though.

If you'll remember back in October we went through the same thing with Ken only it's been much longer this time

I believe that Ken is fine. He was posting up until the forum crashed, and he said he was feeling good and walking several miles every day. He did not shut the forum down for some personal reason, the servers crashed again, just like every time before.
The last time, he did not respond to emails either, and once the forum was back on, he said he was too depressed about it to talk with anyone. So, I think that this time it went off, and they just can’t fix it and Ken does not want to try and explain it.
I have checked online and did not see anything that suggested he was sick or dead, and i do not want to call for a welfare check again, because he was fine last time.
At least , with us all here, we can chat like usual, and if the forum comes back, we can decide once that happens, if it does. i think the server people would have had it working again way before now, if it was fixable. The servers and software are over 10 years old, so very out of date, and Ken thought if he tried to update them, it could crash the whole forum.
