That is a majestic place, @Hollydolly ! Does someone actually live there , or is it just open for visitors or what ? What is the history of this place and when was it built ?
It even has the river going through the property, so fabulous ! Is this in London, or where ?

Yvonne it's in Essex which is the next country to me.. about an hour's drive east from here... it's a Jacobean house, said to be the finest in England..

It's massive but incredibly it's only 1/3 of the original building...

No-one lives there now it's owned by English heritage, and everything inside the house has been left as it would have been when it last had the family living there in 1875 or thereabouts...
yesterday was the first day of the season so the gardens aren't ready yet, they have extensive gardens.. but everything else is as it always hs been..
I posted a whole bunch of pictures of the inside of the house on the other forum if you want to see them there in the photography section..I just thought it would be too much to pst them all here on my first day ...

here's more info about it's history..

Here's a little taster for those who can't get over on the other forum... the kitchen with the huge Cooking range...
