I looked up the difference between pole beans and runner beans. I had planted some in the driveway archway, and we have been having green beans from those, and it was time to replant them. It turns out that they are a different type of bean, and runner beans can overwinter n some climates if it is warm enough, and then come back the next spring.
I am not sure if it gets too cold for them to overwinter here in Alabama, but I am going to do more research and find out. What I planted was just regular pole beans.
