Is the whole climate thing a scam?

It's tough to try to get near the consensus... because there isn't one.

So many people will knee-jerk "Big Oil" if you present evidence or opinion against the practicality or impact of "Net Zero" policies, even though the same "energy companies" have positioned themselves to profit from both paths.

Personally I'm not sure but there does seem to be a body of studies and climate scientists who have been politically suppressed through the machinery of academia and grants. On top of that we have to ask the cost: Europe seems to be in dire straits now after many years of "green" policies. If there is a real catastrophe to be avoided that's one thing, but if not they might be wrecking their economy on a whim.

It also bugs me that the vocal proponents of impending disaster aren't downsizing homes and chopping their own use to the bone en masse.

To that point, Al Gore lives alone now and still uses more electricity and natural gas in a month than the average home uses in 21 years.

I guess it isn’t fair to point fingers at so called wealthy “climate czars” and accuse them of being hypocrites.
To be true, in reality, they are top notch salespeople and getting richer every day whilst pushing their main source of income: climate change.
One doesn’t necessarily have to use the toothpaste or energy drink one is trying to sell; one just needs to push it enough for everyone else to think that they need it.
Enter the darling uneducated young lady: Greta Thunberg. Best sales pitch since the baby on a Gerber jar.

Of note though, I in no way condone their behavior but then again, I really believe that it is the buyer of such drivel that is at fault.

Now, does that mean that we shouldn’t look for better “renewable” energy? Certainly not.
Does that mean that we shouldn’t pursue clean air, water and seek to be less wasteful with our resources? No.
We do those things because progress dictates that we should look forward toward excellence and if excellence is achieved then all else will take care of itself.

I always feel that calling out hypocrites is fine.

Really shows just how much when they board their private jets after telling everyone else to conserve energy.
Seems like the toons could sail to wherever they are going or take a train loaded with other passengers.
Sailing sure worked for the ones who settled and developed this nation and others.

I'm sure there's a ship lying rigged and ready in the harbor, somewhere for him, lol. One of my favorite songs,

@Don Alaska , wonder which war this song is about? Do you know? I know he is singing about a tropical island he visited during the war.
Wonder if Smithy knows about the history of this song? @Smithy ?

Uh huh.
3,000 years ago the suspected population of the earth was around 200,000 with the majority of it centered in Africa.
At present, the population is about 8.1 Billion energy using, switch flipping people.
So, rather than calling out the hypocrisy of those who tell us not to do what they do but do what they say,
we just need to get rid of a major portion of the population.

I mean, 1 degree rise over the last couple hundred years (says NASA) is a huge temperature spike and couldn’t have anything to do with how much more pavement, how many more buildings etc there are now reflecting heat back into space than there was even 50 years ago, we should just get rid of people.
Problem solved. Who’s first?

And do note: Solar panels, a supposed solution to our energy woes, reflect 30+% of the heat they take from the sun back at ….the sun. (space)
The rise in temperature has been measured by NASA which reports the rise from outer space. Of course, I’m sure that they’ve somehow taken the thousands of acres of solar panels shooting heat back into space into consideration.

I think perhaps the song reflects the feelings many of us have felt as we leave for war wondering if we will ever return. Here is what one person thinks:

Don't look at me... My last power bill was $66.01. And I have no solar panels, wind turbines, etc. Just plain old Pacific Gas and Expensive. (My nickname for PG&E, Pacific Gas and Electricity Company.)

Climate change has happened all through history. It is always happening. Scaring people about it is a great way to control them to get them to travel less or use less or use what you want them to...and make money off of them.
I only know that glaciers have expanded and retreated and my car exhaust was not at fault.

I've always thought of myself as a Conservationist. I love the great outdoors, hiking, biking, and over the years I've become a much greener person. When we lived in Eureka and our whole family shared a house, we had TVs, VCRs, even our toaster all had electrical standby.

You know the old joke about "Don't be a Twelve O'Clock Flasher", because all those devices that have digital clocks in them flash "12:00" if you don't set them. Every time the power went off, which in Eureka was almost daily at times, I would reset all the clocks.

Now I have our living room TV and the DVD player on a power strip, and it's only turned on when we're using it. My laptop and my external hard drive are on one too, totally powered down when not in use. Every light in the house is a low power LED light bulb, with only one bulb on per fixture. All lights are of when not in use. We are very fortunate that when it is 100° plus in the summer, our AC is included in the rent, all we have to pay for is the fans we use.

Our PG&E bill is as low as $50 a month in the winter (we have never turned the heater on) and $100 in the summer when we have all of our fans on high. The highest bill we had was $150, but we were watching a lot of movies in the living room and making pizza all the time. We rarely do that now...

I knew everyone wouldn't agree. :) Now we can get on with the business of LIVIN!! :)
There ain't nothin' but good ol' fashioned BS coming from every direction, so who knows what to believe? One thing that I believe is that the Glaciers are melting, and if people don't know why ice melts they're pretty freakin' stupid.

I just thought that a little easy reading might help with the topic of melting ice.
Some would have us believe that melting ice at the N. Pole area is a cataclysmic event that is only happening due to, for the most part, global warming.

Just another thought:
Science favors the deepest pockets or so it is said. I do wonder, since this new administration is canceling billions in grants that were readily handed out to those organizations that would prove a pre scripted narrative, how many will now back those same narratives ?
I mean, if there is nothing to gain by lying, then the truth should will out.
REF: The Covid-19 debacle where the lies were rampant and trillions of dollars made.

I give you a lot more likes than just one;)

There is science and then there is Science. The latter is a different thing, an authority of the type where an election process is certified by the release of colored smoke.
