I kept 2 for 62 years one passed 2 years ago, the other one my friend for 65 yr.s is still going strong considering her age is on the backside of 70 like me.
We had a great childhood and lots of fun. We still talk at least once a week. We both had out first job at 12 working at Grady's Five and Ten Cent store downtown Atlanta.
No picture ID's so you could erase and write in birthday to say your 16. At 12 , you could ride a bus then all over Atlanta and be safe. Now you wouldn't want to go downtown in a armored tank.

I found two of my old friends on Fakebook, and I teased them for days before they figured out who I really am. It drove them up he wall trying to figure it out. I told them all sorts of things we did, and they still didn't get it until I inadvertently gave the game away by mentioning a bike hike we did along the railroad tracks to camp out in this grove of elm trees outside of town. It was just the three of us and one other kid who was killed in a car accident a few years ago, which I was unaware of.

When I said he stole a two way radio out of a railroad work hut, then blamed me for it, I went to his house and in front of his Dad, I gave him a good ol' country a**whoopin'. His Dad knew what it about and just stood there and watched me take him down a peg. After I mentioned that they knew who I was in seconds. I might as well have told them about my playing guitar all the time, as that would have been a dead giveaway. From the time I was 8 years old I never went anywhere without my guitar.

My wife had a very, very long-time friend from she met in 5th grade. They done a lot of things together before each got married. Unfortunately, the friend died in 2020 from Lupus and very, very bad arthritis. Also, unfortunately, she refused any doctors care or even see one. I met Gina, and her husband in 2000 and we saw them off-and-on until she got really sick.

My wife never kept up with the whereabouts of other high school graduation classmates.

As for me, I have some high school graduation classmates on Facebook, but none were really close friends.

I don't think I keep in touch with any high school or even college friends except Christmas cards from a couple. I keep in touch with my closest Navy buddy who was the Best man at our wedding by occasional email. I don't go to reunions either.

Jake has a couple of childhood friends on Facebook. They still live in his hometown along with his brother and parents and sister till they passed.
It is fun reminiscing about old times and just having old friends still here. She is also friends with a couple of my cousins and they all still live outside Atlanta.
