Mamdani's poll numbers are beginning to drop after he told the story about how the real victims of 9-11 were the Muslims in New York and how his aunt had to stop riding the subway because she was afraid. Problem is the only aunt he has lives in Tanzania and I don't think has ever been in New York. He then changed his story saying it was his father's cousins' aunt who was the victim. Problem again is that she lives in Tanzania. Apparently he made the entire story up trying to get more votes from the Muslims in New York (He probably already had all the Muslim votes. No story needed.) Anyway, he is still ahead in the polls but not by as much. Should he lose, he will probably move to Minnesota and run for governor there. Minnesotans don't seem to be very picky as to who they elect to office. Both Ilhan Omar, who is reportedly/allegedly married to her brother and Amy Klobachar in Congress and, of course Tim Walz, the Democrat examp0le of masculinity according to the last Presidential campaign. Minnesotans have also elected Jesse Ventura, a retired professional wrestler, to the governorship in the past. I have always said that if you give Minnesotans enough mayonnaise and ketchup, they will vote for you no questions asked.

Of course, New York elected someone from Arkansas to one of their Senate seats as well and their current Attorney General claims to have their primary residence in Maryland AND New Jersey I think so they might not be much better.

I believe a lot of once-great cities have fallen in the same way, some earlier and some later on. One of the main things they all seem to have in common is deindustrialization.

Two of my favorite cities--Minneapolis and San Francisco--have now fallen as uncontrolled immigration and homelessness have destroyed both places. New York City was also on my list, but it, too, has fallen. I have lived in or near all three cities and mourn their loss. Minnesota, like many states, is two mindsets. The Twin Cites even are two mindsets. St. Paul is (or was) the working-class city while Minneapolis was home to the elite of Minnesota. Anchorage is like that here, being home to half the state's population with the rest of the state being mostly empty of people. Minnesota men seem to be too busy to be interested in politics, with fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and ATVing occupying most of their time. That leads to women taking most of the political roles. Tim Walz supposedly came from Nebraska, probably couldn't hunt or fish so ran for governor. California is probably unique among our states as it is really three states combined into one.

Yeah, my youngest son got work in Minneapolis after college and lived in St. Paul. He got a better position and had to move to California and spent more time than he liked in China for work. One day he reached his limit and moved out into Nevada. He still has to go to China here and there.

I kind of liked Jesse Ventura . He could have made a good president. He served in the military as a young man, lived through the wrestling industry to see how some things worked in the real world. I listened to him and he made sense to me often.

His only real fault was that he lied a bit about his military record. He claimed to be a former Seal when in fact he was a UDT diver. The Seals at the time Ventura served were a VERY elite group and he was not one of them. Since he served, I think UDT has been eliminated and the Seals now serve that purpose which made him think he could pull off that minor fraud. Seals are not the elite team they once were. The elite Seals are Seal Team 6, and the remainder of the Seals are ordinary Special Foes troops...still special people however. It seems everybody claims to be a "former Seal" now, but I have no idea how many of those who claim it truly were Seals. The Seals I had contact with during Vietnam were not people you would want to spend a lot of time around although they were incredible individuals.

It is clearly an illegal order as the Administration is prohibited form using the emergency funds for that type of funding, but sources in the Administration say that it is one illegal order Trump might be willing to go along with. Of course, if Trump decided to do that on his own, the Democrats would sue him for that too just as they did about paying the military. If the ATCs don't get paid soon, air travel in the U.S. might come to a halt. The Air Traffic Controllers don't have the same ethics that law enforcement and health care workers do.

I would think he could propose to only pay those who prove they are American citizens. Half of those seeking snap are illegals. The number doubled during Biden. Aren't the recipients only allowed to buy healthful, non processed food now too? That could bring down their health insurance needs as well.

The 12% of American residents buy 17% of the groceries purchased with SNAP. That is possible because many claim two people in the same household as Head of Household, and many claim benefits for dead people. It is estimated that almost half of SNAP recipients are not legally entitled to them.
