GARDENING 2025

My plum and peach trees ….hubs seems to think it wasn’t him spraying weed feed on our lawn as it’s never effected the fruit trees before …he thinks the neighbours may have treated weeds with some sort of really toxic Spay on their side of the fence …..which they are entitled to do

I’ve given them a treatment of strong seasol as recommended for stressed trees, and will repeat again next week …my plum was lush and green most of the fruit has fallen off the tree …peaches are hanging in there …..just top branches dying back …

Kate Ellery!!!
Glad to see you again.
My Contender peach tree looked like that. It was from leaf wilt that stone fruit trees can get. I was told to treat it with sulfer but I just left it and it came back. It is from a fungus.

I think we discussed leaf mold/mould here, and I mentioned using a plastic bag to create it. Here is a video that talks about creating leaf mold/mould. I disagree a little as I don't think it ends up looking like compost, but I think it more resembles peat or peat moss, but otherwise I think this is a good primer on the subject.

Welcome to the DHQ forum, @Kate Ellery , we have missed you bunches ! There is a game section here, too, so you can enjoy the games.
Maybe your peach and plum tree will come back from the roots, or just look like they are dying and come back next year. We thought our fig tree died one winter when it was really cold, but the next spring it came right back and grew lots of new branches.
I agree with Yvonne, Kate! They may not be plumb dead....they might turn out to be peachy!:)

Hubs made me a couple of little raised garden beds from left over rubbish ..from a home build ( our neighbours sons home )

The tin was the roofing …the wood various roof structure materials …. they are ideal for small sensitive to hot winds in summer veggies ….
Like lettuce and as I’d mentioned we have solid limestone soil here …

He coated the bottom of the legs with a runbbery compound to stop them rotting ..as the pine wood is not treated

It took 2X 70 Ltr bags of potting mix ..and 2x 25 Ltr bags of PM to fill it ….

Good job, more proof that, "one mans trash is another mans treasure."
Our greenhouse is partially made from used wood.

Never too late @Marie Mallory. You can just change the type of seeds.:)

Don first I have to fill up the holes Getty dug in my flower beds. In a little while I'm going to rake up some leaves and fill the beds and compost bin up.
Jake will put some chicken manure around the elephant ears and ornamental shrubs.
I use tarp to rake leaves on then pull it to the front yard. Lot easier than filling wagon with one pitchfork at a time.

Here am hauling leaves a few years ago
