Been wanting one for a while now but something else came up and it was put off.
Now when trail walks are too uncomfortable, I can walk inside. Although I prefer walking in the woods sometimes that is no fun, bugs, heat here in Florida are the main problem.
I'll still walk in the woods most days, now I have the another option.

I have a treadmill that I use almost every day throughout the winter. I was once an avid hiker, and I still like to walk. It is very difficult for old people to walk outside here in the winter, so the treadmill is my substitute. My wife cannot use it, as it seems to bother her feet and legs but I have no problem with it. Since I have been having all my aches and pains this spring, I have stopped walking much of anywhere, but as the pain ebbs, I hope to get back to outside activity. I hope you enjoy it @Marie Mallory and that it doesn't become a "clothes hangar". Use discipline and make yourself use it at least 10 minutes a day, then increase as you are comfortable.

Don, I think I'll use it but who knows, thanks for the encouragement.
Yesday I did my walk around the trails, at first I just wanted to turn back around or get on the golfcart with hybby. I wasn'r feeling gfood and did not want to walk. But I pushed myself and by the time I was halfway i started feeling better.
2 days ago I cut my forearm pretty bad on a jagged tree limb so I've been putting salt on it a few times a day because it started getting infected. It looks better today.
We have so much hurricane damage to forest.Hubby scares me using the chain saw on the huge trees.

Treadmills are safer for older folks, as they usually have rails that can prevent falls. The "terrain" is even and should be trip-free. You can also use them in all types of weather. They are damaging to some people's joints, especially if they run on them rather than walk. You can also use a stationary bike, but I hate those, so I don't have one. They are easier on the knees but harder on the butt and associated areas.

Mine should be here this weekend. I think it will come in handy. I just got back a hour ago from my walk, took the Dogo Getty with us ,jake led her since she was really pulling. We have to teach her to walk on a lease.
It will be 90F in a couple days treadmill will be handy on those days for sure. Unless I get up at 5am.

I am in the house too much, the main thing that helps me is being outside in the woods. Hubby is always working on one of the vehicles or something else outside so that leaves me inside mostly alone. He really enjoys his tractor.
I also liked cutting vines off trees. I've saved 100's of trees in past 27 years. I smoke more cigarettes lately since I make excuses for not walking and clearing fence and forest.
I get ill both physically and mentally.
I'm really good at telling others how to 'use it or lose it" guess now I need to practice what I preach.

I reminded myself of this again this am, and did 'for first time in several weeks ' take a walk.
Last night my BP was 190-102-71 and it took me a while to get it back down, I took half a Losartan and rode down the dirt roads in case I needed to go to er. Ambulance out here are slow to arrive. We got next to the paved roads in case.
This morning it was ok, maybe too low, 119-72-68.
I even pulled and cut a few vines, not many cause I didn't want to slow down long. I'll be glad when cooler weather comes.

Welllll since I can't lift my right leg, I got rid of my treadmill but I've had a xcountry ski machine for maybe 30 years. I have it set up in front of a tv and watch videos and now dvd's while I use it. I also have a stationary bike to work both legs but am not as inclined to use it because of the wear and tear on the bum. Even replaced the seat and still find it uncomfortable.

I've always thought that treadmills and exercise bikes have something in common. You can walk on / ride them all day and never get anywhere. 🚴‍♂️

They are but I have to get out of the house at least once a day, weather permitting.
We don't get out or see many people, now and then a party at neighbor's house, like this evening we're invited to a cookout at neighbors.
Now that the pandemic is alive and well again, no going to local taverns to have beer and wine for a while.

I got one of the worst cases of chiggars yesterday, up all night itching from ankles to chest!
I got up at 2am put Mito E Blast on. It is a small palm size can, so trying to apply it to dozens of bites was not easy.
I know better than to walk outside without repellent on, or I did, I'm still itching so maybe I'll remember next time.
A few minutes ago I was looking at the raised bed and saw Getty dug a huge hole in it. I thought of going out to cover it, then I remembered about the chiggars.

I use my treadmill almost every day in the winter, but I can't deal with stationary bikes, and I don't care much for ones that move either. Walking is my thing and has been since I was young.

We don't get out with people much either. At our age, our group of friends keeps getting smaller. I have suggested to my group that we need to have membership drive. We used to go hiking the hills after work but we all moved apart.

Sad to lose friend's even harder at our age to make new ones. We are so busy keeping up this place too not much time to meet people. Many of our neighbors we knew have passed or moved back to the city.

Now that the pandemic is alive and well again...
Covid has not gone away, so it is still alive and well, not again. :(

That's something about Alabama I try hard to forget. I forget so many things, why not the things I want to forget?

But I remember Clear Fingernail Polish does not kill them. The only thing that worked for me was washing the bitten areas with hot, soapy water, and use anti-itch cream. For that I prefer Medline Remedy Phytoplex Zinc Oxide Ointment. But finding is difficult, as it is typically a hospital product. Some Doc offices have it though.

Edit: You might also look for Calazime. It works well too.
