A 6.0-magnitude earthquake rocked Alaska early on Thanksgiving morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake struck just after 8 a.m. local time near Susitna, about 37 miles northwest of Anchorage. There were no immediate reports of significant damage or deaths, according to ABC News. The National Tsunami Warning Center said a tsunami is not expected following the quake.

The tremors were felt all the way in Fairbanks, which is about 350 miles north of Anchorage, according to the Anchorage Daily News. The earthquake’s depth — recorded at 43 miles — is part of the reason it was felt so far away, state seismologist Mike West told the outlet.
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities said it would inspect roads, tunnels and other infrastructure for damage following Thursday’s earthquake.

As you probably know, our forum member here, @Don Alaska , lives in Alaska, and he was also reporting on this earthquake, and letting all of us know that he and his wife are doing fine.
He said they definitely felt the quake, but everything seems okay as far as they can tell.

A few years ago, there was a much worse one, and they lost their computers and could not get back on our seniors forum, and none of us had any way to contact Don at that time to see if he and his family were okay.
My step-daughter also lives in Alaska, and she mentioned it was shaking her place this morning, but she is fine as well.

We have also been having more and more volcanoes coming to life around the world , with some that have been inactive for a very long time, and there is always the worry that Mt. Rainier might become active again, or a large quake could hit the west coast area, which would pretty much wipe out the whole Seattle area if that happened.

Here is a screenshot from a video that shows how the waves from the earthquake spread across the whole United States. You can see the graph at the bottom, and when you watch the video, it shows it going all the way across and off the eastern coast to the Atlantic Ocean.
It definitely hit hard along the Pacific Coast, which could also cause more quake out west.

Did you see that a volcano in Ethiopia erupted for the first time in many thousands of years a few days ago? I wonder if all this is a sign of things to come or just a coincidence?
