Do you have Pets?

I have a small dog named Marco Poodle, and called Poodle. When I got him, he was a rescue and didn’t know that dogs had names and didn’t respond to “Huey”, the name the woman said was his.
While I decided what to name him, I just called him Poodle.
Since he is a very smart dog, he soon realized that the Poodle word meant Him. Once he thought that was his name, I did not want to change it and make him learn all over again, so Poodle he was.

He is a great little dog, but if he escapes out the front door, he thinks he is a world explorer and takes off down the street, and we have to chase him down to retrieve him. That is when I realized that his true name was Marco Poodle, after the great explorer of history.
He loves dog clothes, and practices meditation almost everyday, doing his Downward Dog yoga pose.

We also have some cats that moved in with us and have adopted us as their family. One just appeared on our front porch as a tiny kitten, and we call her Kitten Little.
This picture is Poodle in his bathrobe and doing his yoga meditation, with Kitten Little watching him.

My 15 yr. old, rescue, gift from God, is more than a pet. This Welsh Border Collie, German Shepherd mix is the sweetest dog this side of heaven and my baby. Problems these days with the aging process, but, I care for her as though she is made of gold. Right now she is being treated for an undiagnosed allergen she picked up, and it has affected her legs. They itch, she scratches by biting into the skin and we are doing our best to cleat this up. She is cooperating nicely though.

So glad you take shelter aka pound dogs. That or strays is all we have ever taken in, it is so sad to go there and see them begging for recue. Last 2 we got 3 months ago, are a challenge, but shelter said nobody wants large dogs anymore. We live in the woods so we have room for a large dog.
I do love poodles but never really wanted to spend money on a dog, spending comes later, lol.

Lovely looking dog, it's nice to see you're looking after her. :)

After having dogs and cats all my life I made the decision not to adopt another dog. I have 2 senior cats. The eldest is over 20 and has the feline equivalent of senility. He has good days and not so good days and my intent is to maintain him as long as there are more good days and the bad days aren’t too bad. He tends to have anxiety and be a little hard to live with at times.

The other kitty is also a senior, but younger and in very good health.

Warning, you may want to take them all. So glad your helping a animal in serious need. So many now in shelters.

Good on you.
It's nice to see people having rescued animals the ones that need the help most. :)

We do have pets, well I say pets, we have one now.

Over the years we have had a cat, and 6 guinea pigs. We lost our family cat in July 2022 and then in August 2022 we lost one guinea pig, she was albino and we knew we would lose her before the others. December 2022 we lost one of the four guinea pigs to old age which was the father of the guinea pig we lost in August, in January 2023 we lost another which was due to old age and heartbreak it seemed that was the mother to the guinea pig we lost in August. A whole year later or so, in February 2024 we lost the final guinea pig who was the last one that we had from them being born as babies, he died from old age.

We then got two more guinea pigs in August 2024 and sadly lost one suddenly in December 2024, we are now down to one guinea pig, Gizmo :)

No more Rescue or County Shelter dogs for us! Had a very bad experience with two Rescue dogs (Husky brother/sister) and a County Shelter dog (another Husky) that escaped from us three times.

It' been a good 16 years since those three dogs. Our next dog will be a female Shih Tzu less than 2 years old and we will call her Daisy. We already have a Play Pen, bed and toys.

Actually, believe it or not, we just ordered, for $19.00, a robot dog from Amazon. We'll see what happens there. LOL

A number of years ago, when we lived in northeastern Florida, we had a 5 gallon aquarium with a Beta in it, along with tiny shrimp and snails for cleaning the aquarium. Had a few live plants and a air pump. It got to be too much of a chore draining part of it and cleaning. And, besides that, the Beta didn't like the water and floated to the top. Sold everything.
