Dentists

Not really, I just don't trust them.
I just got into an civil disagreement with one last month, he was a control type, ,said root canal and I said, 'that's not going to happen'. After a few more suggesting's I left. So now I have appt with another one tomorrow.
A bottom front tooth has a small gumline cavity, even if it was large I'd pull it before root canal. Not saying I'm right just saying I don't want one.

I'm like Smithy. No problem at all after the first shot. The only shot I don't like is one in the roof of the mouth. Makes my eyes water. My dentist thinks he should distract you during shots, so he pinches your cheek---really hard! I asked him to stop that, but he forgets next visit.

Drilling with the rough gauge bit makes my nose itch. :)

Root canals are not like they were in the old days, where they had to ask you when it hurts. They numb your mouth now. No worse than a filling. Family dentists usually don't do them now. They send you to someone who specializes in complicated things.

Nancy is right, no regular dentists will do root canels anymore. I don't know why? 🤷‍♀️ But...I have had 2 root canels. The endodontist dentist who did mine was excellent! No pain during or afterwards. Root canel and crowns are expensive though, but so is just getting a regular dental check-up and getting teeth cleaned.

Omg! He pinches your cheek!:LOL: I think that would P*** me off more than distract me, which I guess is a distraction too. In any case, I would't like it. 🫤

They are expensive and, in my case, unnecessary, mine was a small gumline cavity, was barely visible.

Not afraid of dentists, but I do fear the bills. We had one family dentist who just started doing stuff because we had insurance and he had a new fancy office that he had to pay for. No insurance now and we go to a small practice where one of our DILs used to work as an assistant. If we get a dentist who remembers who we are, the bill is very reasonable, but if we get one of the others.... All dentists in Alaska are expensive and have been so since the Pipeline days, when many people had very good dental insurance. The dentists flocked here and the prices went sky high. The pipeline and the workers are gone with their insurance, but the prices are still high since there are so many dentists and they have trouble paying their bills and student loans. For major work, it is cheaper to fly to Seattle and have it done there unless it is emergent.

Don, they are very expensive here too. Last week I had a very small cavity in front tooth. It cost me $200.00.
