Do you tend not to join forums that are using the default style?
I don't tend to you a join a forum with a default theme, it makes it looks like they haven't put enough effort in

Same here and it to great to see other forums collab with other and potentially join forces together if the situations arise to it.

I don't really care and the default theme can look good if paired with the right logo and other graphics.

Software or theme being used are not my primary concern for joining a forum. I join a forum for its content. I will join a forum if I am interested in the topics being discussed there.
