Daylight Savings Time starts next weekend ! Happy ? I am.

Time changes, health wise, for many older seniors, like ourselves, isn't too much fun. I had somewhat more shoulder and stomach pain yesterday than I generally do. However, when it comes to driving in the evening, it sure is nicer to drive in the extra daylight than feeling like you're driving at midnight. My wife, more than myself, can't drive that much in darkness anymore. When it's really dark, like during the "Fall-Back" winter months, it's extremely difficult for us to drive in a very fast-paced area. I drive with "caution". IOW, not to fast, but not too slow either. The young folks here don't know what the word "caution" means on freeways.
Have you had a ultrasound? After suffering from right shoulder pain for years, then months of unpleasant bathroom visits, I was found to have a clogged gallbladder. One month before surgery, the abdominal pains started accompanied by increased chest and shoulder pain. Shoulder and abdominal pain was gone after surgery. Bathroom visits very much improved but still not noteworthy. TP use reduced by about half.

The shoulder pain is coming from rotator cuff post surgery, as in osteoarthritis in both shoulders. Left shoulder much more than right shoulder. Had physical therapy done at VA, but that didn't work. I have to take either 200mg or 800mg ibuprofen or Tylenol 8 hr. Arthritis on a daily basis, along with a 50mg Tramadol every-other day. And, I know what both the ibuprofen can do (kidneys) and Tylenol (liver), so I alternate each. I may have a gallbladder problem, but won't know anything until I get an Ultrasound this coming Wednesday.
 
I had to look and see if I was really still in the Daylight Savings Time thread……
It turns out that I AM still in the thread i want to write in, even though it has turned into a shoulder pain thread by some magic. Anyway, we just enjoy our day the same way, regardless of what they do to the time, for the most part.
People are saying that the standard time aligns better with our bodies healthwise, but I don’t see how that makes any difference either.

My guess is still that we will settle into one time frame before fall and either change back once more in the fall, or just stay on DST from now on out. Either way, if we do not change back and forth anymore, I will like it better.
The computer programmers will have to figure out how to make all our electronic devices not change. Even our old relic from the 1970’s clock radio changes all on its own twice a year, and I am not sure anything will stop that old clock from changing .

Sorry about attempted hijack. I wasn't as aware as I would have been before losing my therapeutic morning hour. The change of time always messes with me in the spring. Hopefully next fall, the USA will keep its equilibrium and stay on the same time.

It is good we don’t have to still get up for work every day, for sure. It is enough with just the things we do have to do by the clock instead of the sunshine. Thankfully, most of what we do now, we do at our own schedule, but there are still some things that have to be accommodated for because of the time change.
I got up at the same time today, but it was an hour later, so I had to hurry through morning coffee and online stuff to be ready to go to the fitness center at the usual time.
 
It bothers me somewhat as when it changed last time, my sleep pattern went backwards and it hasn’t been the same since. I’ve been awake an hour or two later every night lately.
The change in sleep cycles is a health issue. We have "Circadian rhythms" we become use to. They regulate our natural sleep cycles. Some people are very sensitive to any changes in this cycle, like DST. I hope you will adjust soon. :)
 
When @Bobby Cole says that our bedroom clock is ancient, he means it is one of those 1970-era wood grain bedroom clocks. It has the AM/FM radio, and 2 alarms to set so that both husband and wife can wake up on time and get to work. There is no dimmer on the readout, so it blares the time in bright neon green numbers all night long. (I have one of those eye masks thingies to wear at night, which blocks it out)
But, at least we pretty well can operate it, and Mr. Bobby can change the time when he wants to; so it is probably better than getting a new clock and learning how to work it, at our age.

Yvonne, we have one of those too. green lit numbers and all , it is about 40 years or more and it still works fine.

This is what I have been reading, too, and it makes sense to me. It is always difficult to adjust to the waking up too early, or too late and the same with going to bed at night. We usually just work our way into it.
Most of the time, we sleep and wake up as we feel we need it anyway, so unless something has to be done with the clock, it really does not affect us that much.
Whichever way they choose, i would be happy not to do the clock changing thing every 6 months, for sure.
