The PET Scan is over and it went good. I didn't feel a thing when the Tech Asst. put the radioactive liquid in me. I had to sit in a "reclining" type chair for about an hour, while the liquid worked thru my blood stream. Due to the amount of water I drank prior to the appointment, I had to go to the restroom. I felt a little fuzzy, but was able to walk to the restroom and back. A few minutes, after I got back to the chair, the Tech Asst. came in and was going to escort me to the restroom, but I told her that I had already gone. Couldn't wait!
I didn't have to put on a hospital gown, just pulled my jeans down to my knees and then the Tech Asst. put some type of "lift" under my knees. There was no noise, like I had when I got the MRI at the same office.
Now, the problem, my shoulders were beginning to hurt, because of the position I had to have them in, AND, I needed to go to the restroom again. I got lucky and was able to hold urinating for the remainder few minutes. But, as soon as the scan was done and the table came out, I headed to the restroom. It really seemed like this scanning thing was longer than the MRI was.
I felt fine to drive home and did. My wife was with me. Now I have to drink a lot of water to get the radioactive liquid out of my body.
So, all-in-all, not a bad experience, of which we are very, very glad about.
