Charities

I did not say don't give to the poor. I just said giving to those who aren't poor but just refuse to work or gaming the system is neither Godly nor helpful.
I've been around the poor even been there myself. I used to take my kids downtown to feed the homeless and give blankets to those in the streets freezing. I wanted them to be aware of others suffering one lady had black fingers from frost bite.
This was in the early 70s and 80s.
Today is not the same as then by a long shot. Now we have millions on relief because of lifestyles, or our leaders allow the nation to be invaded by the third world. We cannot feed the world, and if we continue, we will all starve in the long run. I feel sorry for the 'shithole' we are leaving for our children.
We are the most obese nation on earth. Over the years I've flea markets selling the food ,clothing etc from shelters. Some brag about it.
Sometimes it is cruel to be kind.

I have a lot more to add ,just not in the mood.

Yep understand @Marie Mallory , I could go on ….as well , but I’ll look after my BP rather then mention the fact how some “ charities “ CEO’s get thousands in bonuses from $$$ collected at any time …….but more so when Australia has a mojor natural disaster such as bush fires / floods

It’s easily found online about the CEO’s bonuses ..it’s almost like they “love” natural disasters …cause it means lotsa extra $$$$ in thier corrupt pockets

Many charities here also have high-salaried executives. In the U.S., I think the American Red Cross is the biggest offender. The CEO gets almost $720,000 annually in compensation.

Catholic Charities CEOs sometimes make more, but sometimes make less. Median for them is $840,000. Sometimes they make $640,000 and they can make as much as $1 million per year in total compensation. Many of the "charities" funded by USAID with U.S. tax dollars exceeded even those before Trump eliminated the funding since most were heavy Democrat donors and money laundering operations.

This is not one of my good days for debate, so I shouldn't have gotten into it.
Don I sure wasn't thinking about your wife or others who try to help in my comments, even on my worst thinking days I still have better sense than that. If I felt that way I would keep that to myself and wouldn't comment.
I grew up in a Republic and now I'm in a Socialist type nation in many ways. These always turn into communist and then fall.
I always think of Col. Davey Crockets story, ' Not Yours To Give ' about politician's and leaders of big charity when these debates come up. Not because a caring individual helps the poor but because of all other ' charities' that help no one.

I've backed way off. So many have turned out to be scammy.

Right now I'm down to a local Rescue Mission and a Food Bank.

Jacob we also have to be watchful of animal ' charities' after reading about those who ' claim' to help animals it makes you weary of helping them too.
I read that some of the " rescuer's " are actually the ones doing the abuse for the money they make off of it.

NOT SAYING this is one of them so please don't mistake video for one.
I'm just using video for an example of what some are putting up that do the abuse to make money off it.
And this video below would be an example of one of the less cruel ones!

"Pets" tend to be freakish, crude eugenics efforts by puppy mills and such to create dwarves, either aggression or passivity, pink-fur, or whatever abomination can be readily marketed. Often inbreeding reinforces defects that can result in misery for the poor creatures, especially as they age into late adulthood. People often keep the animals in pain for years.

Around this entire industries have been created to exploit consumerism further. Veterinary and grooming services, pharmaceuticals, luxury foods, toys, even such absurdities as clothing and car seats!

Throw in a growing feral population. People get bored and palm off critters or even just dump them "in the wild."

There are dumbasses out there buying prime beef to fed to their dogs.

Most of this is perfectly legal, but I question the morality of much of it. It looks like selfish behavior run out of control to me. Poor creatures. I don't keep slave animals.

I agree with you on this.
I have at least one of these dogs, maybe two. Getty was bred to hunt wild hogs in Argentino and her life span may not be as long as some.
But she will have a good home long as we do. Not sure about Goldie's like Maisie.
