Hamas had no intent to give up their weapons and control in Gaza. There were even reports that they were killing civilians who were advocating for peace with the Israelis...but nobody was protesting against that. Their backs are against the wall however, since many of the Arab nations who were supporting Hamas are now wanting peace in the region.
