Beach Or Mountains?

Yep. It's all in your perspective. If you think oceans are the only place that has beaches, you're missing out of a lot of great places to go. When I was a kid living in massive cornfield known as Illinois, my Dad used to take us fishing on the Rock River. There was a state park there called White Pines and they had some man-made sand beaches on the river bank. They may have been man-made, but they didn't stop us from going there.

I lived many years i western Washington State, so I love seeing the magnificent mountains, like Mt. Rainier and Mt. Saint Helens, and we used to go camping up in the mountains around there, fished in the high mountain lakes, and just enjoyed the scenery. Seeing the area around mt. Saint Helens after the volcanic eruption was just incredible, all the trees blown over like a box of wooden matches, and all of the branches were blown off, too.
There are a lot of old Weyerhauser logging roads in that area, and we used to ride the horses way back into the mountains , but when we went camping, we usually took my pickup and the Jeep for that.
This is a really old picture of my daughter when we were at Mt. Saint Helens, and she is walking along one of the trees that were blown over in the blast. You can see all of the trees lying on the hillside behind her.

I enjoy both our NC beaches and mountains. If I was rich, I'd have a little log cabin built on a mountainside and a small cottage on the beach. If I had to choose, I'd choose our Great Smoky Mountains in the fall.

If i could choose where i lived, i would like to live on the west coast, somewhere near Astoria, Oregon. Astoria is a beautiful little town that is close to the ocean beaches of both Washington and Oregon, and it is just a nice sized little town.
There are some beautiful old homes that were built here early on, and several rivers converge here and run into the ocean, and it is the mouth of the Columbia River there.
You can see the Cascades from almost everywhere along the Washington Coast, and probably most of the Oregon Coast, too. It is not likely that I will ever go back out west to live again, but I miss it and would live there if I could.
