Automobile Racing Discussion/News

When he died, my 11 year old who has Cerebral Palsy and was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt was just devastated. The only way I could get him to calm down was telling him that the next day I would take him to a store and buy him something to remember him by. But when we got to the store, every single thing to do with Earnhardt was so expensive that I wouldn't buy anything. I told him "I'm sorry, but $80 for a t-shirt that was $15 the last time we were here is way too much." Fortunately, he understood that.

I'm not sure I understand.
I finally remembered... He was a NASCAR Cup Series driver named Jimmy Spencer, aka "Mr. Excitement", and his favorite thing to say was "Jimmy Spencer Never Forgets." He was a big 'ol boy so when Krispy Kreme (overpriced mediocre donuts) sponsored him, naturally my mind went to "Jimmy Spencer Never Forgets To Eat."

Ah yes! Good 'ol Jimmy Spencer!

Jimmy Spenser was a good showman, but as a driver, he was mid of the back pack at best. Starts, 478. Wins, 2. That's not exactly a stellar record... Even Robby "the Wrecker" Gordon with 396 starts won 3 races. But one season, I can't remember which, he wrecked almost car he drove, including a "Big One" at Homestead, that resulted in the collection of 25 competitors.

As far as Krispy Kreme goes, I'd rather have Dunkin' Donuts Apple Fritters! More reasonably priced, always taste fresher, and I like their Double Chocolate Donuts too. Any of them go great with coffee. 🍩☕

We went to drag races in the late 60's early 70s, but not to watch, we went to race and tear out rear ends of our 55 Chevie's.
My friend and I had just married my husband was from Daytona Beach Fl. lots of dragsters then.
I was 17 and loved to drag race.
I laughed one day when a station pulled up and raced his motor, told my friend, ' look a station wagon wants to race us. It was a souped up Nomad, his front end came up off the road as he left us in the dust. She laughed so hard she was laying across the seat.
