ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, that broadly commemorates all who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people forget that Freedom is not Free and have so little respect for fallen Heroes. Or how so many people have no idea what Memorial Day is about. It's far more than excuse for a three day weekend party. Every Memorial Day someone I see says to me "Happy Memorial Day!", and without changing expression at all, I ask them "What's Happy about it?" A memorial for soldiers who fought and died for our freedom is a solemn occasion. There's nothing happy about it at all. I think that Congress did the absolute worst thing for Memorial Day they could possibly do by making it a three day weekend.

It really irritates me that every year I feel the need to explain that there are many Military Holidays and Observances that many people have never even heard of, much less know the significance of some of them, such as Memorial Day. Did you know there 36 of them? Not all of them are "Official Holidays." Here's a list I found that you may find interesting:

Important Military Holidays and Observances

And as far as I'm concerned, ANZAC Day is the same as Memorial Day. It's a solemn occasion.

Sorry... End rant. ✌️
