A Journey To the the Sun!

This is from David Gilmour: Live at Pompeii, the first live performance with an audience at the Amphitheater of Pompeii since 79 AD. It was filmed in July 7th and 8th, 2016. Pink Floyd recorded a live performance with no audience in 1971, a film of which was released as Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii.

That was so Cool, Axel! Thank you!

Those were great shows. They played at a bunch of ancient amphitheaters on that tour.

Here's the whole David Gilmour: Live at Pompeii film, if you would care to watch it.

However, with all due respect for David Gilmour and his band, the three backup singers did an atrocious job on "Great Gig In The Sky." They cut the performance of "The Girl in the Yellow Dress" from the film, and that should have been kept and "Great Gig In The Sky" should have ended up on the cutting room floor.

I bought the DVD box set and when I made an MP3 copy for my car, I cut that one and added "Dancing Right in Front of Me" and "The Girl in the Yellow Dress" from June 26th, 2015, Wrocław, Poland and "Astronomy Domine" from São Paulo, Brazil. Both shows are on YouTube, as well as a few others. Even though they mostly have the same tracks, the band in Brazil is different than the one in Europe. Enjoy!

Thanks, I am looking forward to watching it!

Is the Sun solid at the center?
big-idea-3_2-opt.jpg

"No, the Sun is not solid at its center; it is a ball of swirling, super-hot plasma due to extreme temperatures and pressure. While it is extremely dense at the core, this density is a result of plasma being compressed, not of the material being in a solid state."

Plasma state: The Sun's material is in a plasma state, meaning electrons are stripped from the atoms, creating a super-hot gas of ions and electrons.
  • Extreme pressure and temperature: The immense pressure at the core compresses the plasma, giving it a density over 20 times that of lead, but the extreme temperature prevents it from becoming a solid.
  • No solid surface: Because it is a ball of plasma, the Sun does not have a solid surface. The visible "surface" (photosphere) is just the layer where light can escape into space.
