    Ya, phpbb is annoying. I don't like it either. There's also Discourse and Nodebb. They're pretty neat. They're kind of a headache to set up, but they do have some neat features built in.

    Smf was the first one that I ever used. I never liked the uix of phpbb or Mybb. Smf was pretty simple and cool though.
