When I lived it Auburn, we used to go to Lake Martin. That was our weekend getaway spot...
Auburn , Alabama , @Axel Slingerland , or a different town ? We have lakes up here , but it is too cold for swimming in any of the lakes. I swim at the fitness center, but the backyard pool is a smaller above ground pool that we can use to keep cooler in the hot days of summer.

What do we have in common?

People need to have something in common in order to form friendship bonds. On our old forum, we were all old-ish and shared some of the same memories.

I have looked at the introduction thread and there is almost no information about the members here. It looks like most of the original members are young enough to be my grandchildren. They are from another country. They have strange usernames. I'm having a hard time feeling warm and cozy with them.

If I knew more about them, maybe we could be friends in spite of the differences. So, how about y'all sharing more info about yourselves? I don't mean real names, date of birth, and exact location. Just something that may show that we have something in common. A real sounding name would help. :)

It takes time to form the bonds, that came over ten years, in the other forum. We should work at revealing ourselves more, rather than expecting others to do so. We should be patient, with one another. We shouldn't allow age to be a barrier.

Sorry I missed your post. Yes, Auburn, Alabama, and Lake Martin (well, the part we always went to) is about 40 miles north-west on US 280, near the town of Alexander City. We used to go to Wind Creek State Park to camp and swim in the lake.
