Looking at creating a garden business.

I am stuck on names at the moment, any ideas?
Here is what I have so far.

  • Green Hands Gardening
  • Green Hands Garden Care
  • Green Hands Gardens
  • Smiths Garden Care
  • Smiths Garden Maintenance
  • Blooming Gardens
  • Smiths Gardening Services
  • Green Gloves Gardening
What will my garden business offer?
  • Grass mowing and strimming
  • Hedges trimming
  • Pressure washing
  • Gutter cleaning
  • Garden border maintenance
  • Leaf clearance

Over here, we call that lawn or yard maintenance , rather than gardening. There are a lot of companies that do this kind of work, and also just one-man kind of businesses as well.
Because there are a lot of apartments and also retail businesses that always need yardwork done, these people seeme to do really well, even year around when mowing is not necessary.
Here in Huntsville, where i live, they mostly use some kind of lawn grass that turns yellow and dies in the winter for most lawns, so it always looks really brown and ugly by late fall.
Some people do use grass that stays green, but even that does not grow much over the winter.

But there are always shrubs that need trimmed, and other lawn care things that need done, so it is probably a business that would work year around for you as well. If you had a rototiller, you could even till up garden spaces for people, for either flowers or veggies.
I like the Green Hands Garden Care name the best, I think.

That is interesting, @Smithy ! Over here, a yard is definitely a place with grass that surrounds your home. The grass growing in the yard is called the lawn, and if you have flowers or veggies in a special area, then that is what we call the garden area.
Most yards have fences around the whole property, but sometimes only part of the yard is fenced. Our house has a fenced back yard, but the front yard is not fenced, and just goes from the house out to the street.
The hard surface area is maybe what we would call a patio, or even a deck , here. They can be cement , or if they are outside of a door, then they are usually wooden and called a deck.

I vote for Green Hands Garden Care or Smith's Gardening Services. The "Services" would cover the pressure washing and gutter cleaning.

I don't think "yard" is what I would call slang. It is just American idiom which is often different form the UK.

I like Smiths Garden Maintenance it gives more info of what you do.
Back in the 70's I was partners with my brother in a lawn maintenance business.

Our business name was "Rose Lawn Maintenance". We had a symbol of a rose flower in the name. The business was named after our mom (Rose).

I left after 2 years, my brother at 77 YO, still takes care of 16 accounts.

We purchase a business with a dump truck, all tools, and machines (edges mowers. Backpack blowers etc.)

We started with 42 account, at the end of the 1st year we had 95 accounts, we actually were turning people down (away), we couldn't handle the work.

I wish you success.

Pain In The Petunias Garden Services
"We get the pain in the petunias so you don't have to."

By the way, just in case anyone is wondering why I always say that, it's a polite was to say "Pain in the ***." that I came up with running my friend Rick's Natural Yard Forum, which was about like the Senior Forums. I was always thinking of the elderly ladies and having a sense of decorum on the forum.

What's the best way of getting work? - Business leaflet posting through the doors?
If you check with some of the apartment managers and banks (that would have repo’s), you might get some good contracts as well. A special price for seniors will help you get more business, too; so if there are senior centers near you, that would be a good place for an advertisement.
Almost all of the apartments, and many of the rental homes that are with a management company will need someone to to their gardening work for them.

You could also go door to door asking people if they need a gardening service. I don't know how successful this will turn out to be though, as people might want to see some experience or achievements or something of the sort.

In my area we call this "Cold Calling" knocking on doors and selling a service etc.
It would be best for me to post leaflets.

The word "calling" gave me the idea that you could get a list of phone numbers (somehow) and just call people and ask them about your lawncare. I suspect they might get a little annoyed.

Make a YouTube Channel, and make videos of you doing one job a week, month or whatever for free for someone who really needs it, play the "Like and Subscribe and Watch all the way to the end of the video" game, and after you get to 1,000 Subscribers and 4,000 Watch Hours in one year, you'll start making money from the videos. Then as you make more money, you change from one freebie to two, then three, and pretty soon you'll be making lots of money and you'll be helping people who need help.

If I was 20 years younger, and my band was still working, I would post videos of live shows and have that pad the ol' retirement account...

"Mr Beast Lawncare"

Smith's Lawncare Service

I don't think I want my name in the business name.
I do love "Green Hands Garden Care" I asked my parents without me telling them I gave them a list of business name I have thought of and they came up with "Green Hands Garden Care" also.

I do want to offer pressure washing and gutter cleaning but focus more on grass cutting, hedge/trees trimming, flower/plant borders etc.
Although I wouldn't get Green Hands from doing pressure washing or gutter cleaning, sorry for the joke. :D
