How long was this particular forum around? What was the name of it?

For the last 10 years, most of us have been on a little seniors forum called Seniors Only Club. The servers were sold several times, and our admin was locked out of his account and could not do updates for a lot of years.
Eventually the servers were so old and neglected they started crashing.

We were using Zenforo software that came out in 2010, and the admin had no way to update it, so the forum would just crash every so often. This time, it has been down for over a month, so it does not look like the server people are going to fix it anymore at all.

That is why I started looking for another home for us, because many of us have been on that forum since it opened in 2015, and are like good friends online.
So, that is the story of how we all got here, @Cpvr .

PM Smithy. He is a nice and accommodating guy and super admin as his title boast. He changed mine for me before I served my sentence. I decided to use my original forum name (with the 2.0 upgrade) so all would know who I am and get me on ignore from the get go.

I don't put anyone on ignore, or hold grudges, at my age they won't last long enough to matter anyway.
I give those who do time to calm down though.

The software and forum will continue to be updated along with the server, so you don’t have to worry about the forum going anywhere!

It’s awful when a forum is sold as it changes directions and the foundation is never the same. I’m not a fan of that at all. I’ve seen too many forums over the years go in a whole different direction after being sold and it’s a shame!

It was not our forum that was sold, the server people sold their company to another company, and it changed hands several times. When that happened, our admin was no longer able to access his account with the server company, or update any of the software. It was hard to even find out who owned the servers we were on, and no way to upgrade anything at that point.

Since then, the server people who are controlling the servers have not replied to requests for help, or done any of the upgrading that they promised, or moved the forum to better servers. That ended up in the servers just crashing unexpectedly every few months, and no response when our admin contacted the company to get them working again. This time, they didn’t even try to get the forum servers working again, so everything we had was lost forever.

Grudges only hurt the one holding them. Life is too short for such. I like this forum and the fresh start.
