What books have you been reading lately?

I am currently reading, "The River We Remember" by William Kent Krueger.

I've been reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Been a fan of King for a while and I'm about half way through the series. I'm currently on book 4: Wizard and Glass. After this one I'm going to read Insomnia and few short stories that tie in to the greater Dark Tower lore then continue for a bit.

I took a break from this series to read King Sorrow by Joe Hill. That was a fantastic book!

I am currently reading Freida McFadden's new book called" Dear Debbie". I have read most of her books. It's a Kindle unlimited book, as most of hers can be found there as well.

I'm reading another book by Robert Dugoni, "The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell" I have read it before a number of years ago. Sometimes I re-read books out of laziness, if I can't find anything else that peaks my interest at the moment. I remember liking it but I can't recall all the details. I either have read too many books in between or maybe it's old age syndrome, or a little of both.:D

It's good to re-read books sometimes you forget what the book is about. :D

The Sea and Poison a rather tough book to read about Japan near the end of WWII and treatment of U.S. prisoners and their own sick patients. Originally written in Japanese and offered in translation.

I had a James Patterson book on hold at the library for about a month. I was able to get it a couple of days ago. It is his latest book titled "The Invisible Woman". It's supposed to be a thriller. It is not, from what little I read. The writing is horrible. I couldn't finish it. I could barely get through the first 50 pages. It is so SO stupid! There is no way James Patterson wrote this book. I am beginning to think he puts his names on books so he gets a portion of the sales. The only good thing about the book is that I didn't buy it. :)

Did it have a co-author listed? The big names often start passing their celebrity to lesser authors as they age. If it says "James Patterson with John Doe", you can bet the John Doe wrote the book and Patterson had little or nothing to do with it. Sometimes they pass it on to their children, but often it is just whoever is willing to pay the most for their name. Tony Hillerman offered this to his daughter, and I think she refused as her style is so much different from her father's. Clancy did it, as did Clive Cussler (his son I think) and John Sandford is beginning to do the same. I am sure there are others. If it has a co-author, I don't buy it.

Yes, there is a co-author. Her name is Susan DiLallo, a terrible writer, in my opinion. I have always suspected when a big name author supposedly "co-writes" with another, he or she has sold their name. I have read many of James Patterson books years ago, and he did not write a word in this book. I'm sure glad I didn't pay $14.99 for the e-book. I always try to get books from the library, if I can, no matter how long I have to wait having books on hold. I can always read something else while I wait. :)
