Many people now follow one of the above way of eating (WOE) plans, and this thread is to talk about which plan you follow, why you like it, and share things about each plan.
Pretty much they are all low carb lifestyles, and the difference is which proteins you eat, and which carbs (if any) are allowed.
People following any of these lifestyles can also start a diary thread to share what we are eating each day, which will be a separate thread from this discussion thread about the different plans.

I hate to drop a long video and run since not everyone has the time and interest to sit through them all.

This doctor has a lot of nutrition opinions that seem solid though. Few of those advocate for a particular WOE aside from her main emphasis on eating "whole foods" instead of relying on processed foods and industrial supplements.

Her style tends to range around the topic of each video, but there are annotated "chapter marks" on the timeline which facilitate skipping ahead as desired. She has accumulated a decent portfolio of videos, so you can pick and choose or search or just browse for coverage of a specific topic.

That is an interesting video, Jacob, and she presented everything in a way that is easy to understand. I have used flax a lot when I am baking, and the fiber cake that I make for us has a lot of the same ingredients.
I use the ground flax, chia seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, and ground almond meal in the fiber cake, plus whatever fruits /veggies i have on hand. Sometimes it is bananas, sometimes carrots, or apples, and usually I add some raisins or cranberries, too.
This is definitely NOT a low carb food, but it is made from healthy whole real foods , seeds and nuts.

Yeah, things are obviously a lot more complicated than people think. Maybe there is a public information and education problem? :ROFLMAO:

Obviously "whole foods" are processed differently in digestion than their isolated components are. Wheat and grains in general are a good example. Seeds are another.

I may come back to this one later.

I just watched another video on a study that claims butter causes cancer, etc. blah blah.

The doctor showed how poor the study was and why these can basically be ignored. It had flaw after flaw and he thinks the seed oil industry was behind it.

As an aside he remarked on how inaccurate "cause of death" is on so many death certificates. Doctors often just punt.

I try to stay as close to nature for health as possible, although we sometimes eat a little junk food like candy, cookies now and then.
We try to let food be our medicine. Berries, oatmeal, chicken, some beef. And lots of tuna fish.since most salmon is now farm raised we never eat it anymore. Although some say 'wild caught' is is not really wild caught.
If I took all the drugs doctors wanted to put me on over the past 20 years I may not be here.
Only meds I take is baby aspirin once a day and occasional BP if BP goes up.

Also we stay very busy, blessed with lots of energy and fortunate and thankful to be able.

The quote "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" is attributed to Hippocrates, the ancient Greek physician known as the father of Western medicine. This powerful statement emphasizes the idea that the food we consume can play a crucial role in our health and well-being, suggesting that a balanced and nutritious diet can prevent and even treat various health conditions.

What is the 'Hippocratic oath,' and who was Hippocrates?

I have tried just about everything, all the way from carnivore to vegan, and I am not happy at either extreme. I enjoy some animal foods , and I also enjoy a lot of plant foods, and when I limit either completely, I am not happy.
I think that just plain low carb, which allows for some plant foods, and more over time, is what works best for me, at least i feel better and have more energy that way.
The Vibration Plate really helps, too. It is a simple way for all my muscles to get a workout, and I feel energized afterwards.

With the Ninja Creami, I can make healthy ice cream from protein drinks, and we enjoy that as a treat, and sometimes as a complete meal for me, since it is basically just a frozen protein drink. I find that it does not start the addictive craving that commercial ice cream has, I just enjoy it, but do not crave it every day .

Yvonne, soon as we can afford to buy ice cream maker I sure will. I love ice cream and it is one of the sweets with some fat not so bad for my sugar glucose. I eat a few gallons of ice cream a week. I try to fain weight b ut decided not to worry about it anymore. I'm still really underweight at 107lb.s but feel ok and still pulling vines and tree limbs.
Although also pulling lots of ticks off too, about 20 tic bites just last couple days., use cortisone for the nighttime itch. They are really bad ,wonder if the government is dropping them down on us, LOL.

Watch the ticks @Marie Mallory as they may carry all kinds of diseases from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever to Lyme Disease and others. Do you get ticks on your legs or upper body. Legs can be protected with socks over long pants with perhaps sulfur or insect repellent. Ticks on the upper body usually come from brushing against bushes and tree limbs and you have to be careful about that. We don't have ticks to speak of here, but I have encountered them many other places I have lived.

Don, I do try but this vine killing addiction helps me with the cigarette addiction. I would never smoke in the woods.Chiggars are bad here too.
I had Lymm desease in 2000 caught it early took strongest antibiotics know to man. So I do try to be careful but the little buggers act like AI and don't sweat the bug treatment.
I do put my socks over my pants legs, and spray for ticks.
I'm going to trea my pants with pyrethrin today and see if that works better.
I am going to be more careful though, thank you for your concern.

Watch the ticks
I'm surprised we didn't have more trouble as kids. I recall many times that we played in tall grass, taller than our heads even at 7, 8, 9 years old. Wading through it, rolling in it, pushing it down to make trails and even mazes. It was only years later that I noticed that odd bugs tended to "ride" up on the stalks of tall grasses a few inches below the seed heads. Yet even then no light bulb saying "ticks" ever lit.

Perhaps climate is a factor, because we never even worried about ticks on dogs that I can recall.

This is true. Thats why I was half kidding about AI or government dropping some infected insects on us.
I read a story in the early 70s in the True Story's section of Readers Digest about how the 'leaders' tested chemical warfare on us by dropping viruses down onto cities across America. A retired military officer said he kept telling himself it was for our country as the deaths started piling up mostly old people and young children got sick.
The man said he couldn't keep telling himself he was doing it for the good of the nation.
