I don't know if anyone cares, but CBS has announced that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will end in May of 2026 and will not continue in any form. The show was started for David Letterman when he didn't get the Tonight Show when Johnny Carson retired. I expect Jimmy Kimmel to go the same way since he really has no talent. Jimmy Fallon will probably remain as he is the most talented of the three network guys. Gutfeld is the highest rated I think with a fraction of the exposure as he is on cable only.

Yeah, I never followed any of them. Colbert stopped being funny when he stopped being a regular short-side-feature in the old Jon Stewart days. Kimmel and Fallon felt even flatter than Colbert to my sensibilities.

I watch occasional Gutfeld bits on YouTube, or did. Not sure they are posting there any more.

I have never been interested in those late night TV programs, but just the little bits i have seen posted on facebook or X seemed like it was not worth much, and they were all anti-MAGA that i saw, and made fun of President Trump. I am fine that he has been let go, and won’t miss it a bit.
I have watched some of the Gutfield clips from YouTube, and like him better, but would not watch a whole program.

Actually, the one i think has the best programs would either be Joe Rogan, or Tucker Carlson , and neither of those are on mainstream television, as far as i know.
Rogan has some really interesting guest speakers, but he just has WAY too much vulgarity on his program, so I seldom watch more than clips from those. Tucker is also good for finding interesting guests, and i do listen to his programs sometimes.

In case you haven't noticed, late night talk shows have poked fun at the President for decades, no matter who it might be or what political he is in. The difference now, is the MAGATS (Make America Great Again Trump Supporters) consider that an attack. Which just encourages them to push harder. People are always going to have their own opinions, you better get used to it.

Edit: Clarity

His show is #3 in the country. Not bad for someone with no talent.
By what rating? Are you talking late night shows? If so, he is near the bottom. Total watch time goes to CBS and none of the late night shows even appear near the top. Ad revenue is what counts, and only Gutfeld draws much of that, but his show is a panel discussion, not an interview show.

Ah, Colbert is the brainiest of the Late-Night-Show-Comedy-News-Guys, and the most empathetic of the bunch!

I read that the reason Colbert was cancelled was because his show lost $40 million last year, and the company does not want that kind of a loss. This makes sense to me, because if the show was drawing in a lot of revenue as a top show, I do not think it would be cancelled.
If people are not watching, and the advertisers are not making money on their products, then a program is not going to keep being broadcast.

Once they stop allowing the medical drugs to be advertised on Television, many of these shows are going to lose advertisers, and if the show is not getting good enough ratings, it will probably be dropped .

Just watch TV shows on YouTube! No medications advertised there, easy peasy!! :D

I actually do not watch television shows, either on the TV or on YouTube, at least not very often, but i know that most of the ads that I have seen were for some kind of medication that was going to fix everything wrong with you , and make you happy besides (as long as you did not listen to the list of dangerous side effects ).
And there are all sorts of prescription ads on the YouTube videos, too. At least, most of those, I can choose to skip after the first little bit; but I will be glad when they are no longer allowed to be advertised.

You're lucky you haven't see any, but they're definitely there. If I watch YouTube videos for one hour, I will see an ad for Viagra for 87¢ a pill at least a dozen times, if not more. And that is just one rather annoying example. But at least you can't skip that after a few seconds. Some ads you can't skip at all. That's a key reason why if I see a video I want to watch, I just copy the address of it, come here (or go to any forum that allows YouTube videos to be posted) start a post, paste the ad into it, hit preview... And no ads. Some Tubers don't let you do that, because they lose their ad revenue, but many do allow it.
